better engine f20b or h22
aight heres the deal im going to be putting a new engine in my 97 accord coupe. Im not sure whether or not i want to get the h22 or the f20. They both put out the same horsepower but the h22 has more torque. I plan on putting many aftermarket parts on the car, internals, turbo, intake exhaust etc. which one would be the better motor to use.
These motors are different animals. The f20b was created so that Honda could compete in touring class, which had a 2.0L maximum displacement. Basically, the f20b is a destroked h22, which gave it more of a square dimension (there are more differences from the h22 than just stroke, but this is the big reason that makes the motor so different from the h22). The shorter the stroke, the more it can rev. You get the same power of the larger h22, but at a loss of low-end torque. In the heavier Accord chassis, I would probably shy away from the f20b. Unless you were going to go forced induction. Boy, a boosted f20b. All those revs with a turbo could equal some big power. Ultimately, niether engine is really "better", they are just different. But, unless you want to stand out, go h22.

If he wants a better power band at higher rpms with boost, then f20b would be the better choice, if he wants a good daily driver engine, the h22 would better suit him. If it were me, sence I'm all for auto cross, I'd go for the f20b with boost.
i magine the power with a disco potatoe on an f20b. with those revs, you could hold gears between corners at the auto-x....always being on boost. makes me happy thinking about it....
