Rad. fan won't come on.... this is a last resort.
First of all, the car is a 92 GS-R w/B17. (Comes with A/C)
I have removed the A/C system, I also have Del Sol VTEC rad. (Half Size Dual Core).

With that said, i have tested the following things so far:
1. Radiator Control Module (Under the passenger side dash)
2. The Fan Relay (Near the back of the passenger side headlight)
3. I have changed the ECT "18" to a new one from the stealership.
I even just tested my old ECT in a beaker with a hot plate and it came on and off at spec so i put a new one in for nothing.
4. I tested the diode (Passenger side kick plate)
5. I jumped the ECT plug and the fan comes on and works, ruling out the relay and wiring.
I also put a relay between the two ECT wires so i can turn on and off the fan at the flip of a switch.
6. I've changed the coolant. It's not OEM coolant, could that effect it? (New Honda Anti Freeze now)
7. I bled the air out of the system too.
8. I checked the under dash fuses.
9. Changed the thermostat.
The car has never overheated. This is not a daily driver. I'm not sure how long the fan has not worked, but I'd like to restore to work like it's suppose to.
I sat in the car and held it at 3k until the temp needle was a little past half, no fan action.
The top rad hose always feels hotter than the bottom one, even if the car is not moving.
One last thing, just to note the rad fan is only suppose to come on when the car is on( not on constantly, i just mean it can only be on when there is power to the ignition, when it comes on is controlled by the ETC), unlike the condenser fan which is controlled by and sender that is on the back of the block in the oil system.
Please help, I'm going to go through the helms flow charts one more time tomorrow....
Thanks,
~Eric

well, i believe the driver side fan is for the ac. im like 85% sure it only comes on with the ac. if u took out the ac, thats your problem. my ac was out and so was that fan....i just threw away the fan my car never overheats even on 100 degree days its way below half
Yes there are two fan's. The driver side fan is the condenser fan equipped on cars with A/C. The passenger side fan is the Radiator fan equipped on cars with and without A/C. I believe the manufactures put this fan there for a reason and I'm not about to give up on getting it work like it's suppose to. I'm happy my car has not overheated but when i start doing HPDE's i need this puppy(the fan
) working.

Mine had the same problem when I removed my ac. I think there is something in the wiring, that when you remove the ac fam, and compressor, the power can't get to the cooling fan. I also have a half-style radiator. Mine started overheating cause I used to have to sit in traffic for about four hours on the way home. ( I hate northern VA and Washington DC) So I wired my fan to a toggle switch I mounted in the dash. I ran 14 guage wire through the firewall, to the fan. Now it works whenever I want it to. I am planning on running AEM's plug and play EMS, which has functions to control fans, so my problem will be solved shortly!

The condensor fan will come on while using A/C or when the Engine Oil Temp Switch on the back of the block reaches a certain temp, this is with the key in ignition or not.
If you jumped the Engine Coolant Temp Switch wires, and the fan came on, then it is your ECT Switch. Also the ECT Switch will only work if it has coolant flowing on it, if the system is low or not bled properly, there isn't enough to actuate the switch. Go ahead and swap your thermostat to eliminate it also.

^I know how the whole system works and how one has to bleed the system.
This is why I'm so clueless to why it's not working. My new thermostat arrives on the 11th so we'll see what happens when i change it.
Thank you though

Finally my new thermostat and misc. other stuff has arrived from sunnyside acura.

I'm going to go buy some Honda anti freeze and hopefully be putting in the new thermostat on this Sunday the 27th.
Any requests for a write up?

personally i wouldn't need to see a writeup (someone on here did a writeup for this before...I think it was JDMLifestyle, but not sure)...but I am very eager to see if this solves the problem you're having since I am having the same problem

Well I replaced the thermostat and put new Honda anti freeze in today. Man anti freeze was $16 dollars a bottle and i needed two...
I started up the car waited for a while getting the air bubbles out and the fan still won't come on. It's pretty cold outside and the gauge never went past the half way point. I still think the fan should come on if you let the car idle for a while.
I took out the old thermostat and tested it and it turned out to work fine.

Maybe tomorrow I'll take the Radiator Fan Control Module from my other car and try as a last resort...

Hey wassup man I just made a post earlier describing the same problem. Freaking radiator fan would never turn on, but the car never overheat and never goes pass halfway on the temp gauge. So I truely believe now that......don't fix what is not broken. Still suck to know that the fans doesn't come on like it should...
on my old DA i just hardwired the power wire to one of the fuses under the dash, and grouned it onto the battery ground. of course it was always on, but thats better than always off id imagine.
I have a switch on a separate relay in the cabin, I just want the fan to function like normal. The problem with having it always on is that when the car is warming up it takes longer since the fan is always on. I'm not sure how good it is for the car to run cold in the beginning.
I also have removed my entire AC system and made the mistake of removing one of the grounds on the radiator support. Make sure you have not removed the ground right under the valve cover ground. This grounds both the AC and rad. fans. Hope this helps.
Just to clear things up here is an overview of the system components.
Also since I have the B17A1 which is a VTEC motor the ECT is not on the back of the block, it is on the thermostat housing.
Hear is an electrical schematic of the system.

Here is what the schematic of my car looks like with the addition of the relay to manualy turn on the fan.

Ok yeah I'm def. having the same problem as this. I jumped the fan switch plug and the fan came on. Guess that means it's eaither the thermostat or the fan switch itself located on the thermostat housing that's bad. Since your thermostat was good, try checking and/or replacing the fan switch and see what happens. It could also just be that it's too cold outside for your thermostat to open all the way, thus activating the fan switch.
i have an idea. check the cooling fan relay. it should be one of the black box lookin things in the fuse box under the hood (near the battery) swap it with the heating fan relay and see if it kicks on after warming to normal operating temp. hope it helps.
