Is there any way to run the barcode on the transmission to find out which YS1 transmission it is?

Its one of the few that I have seen with a YS1 stamping. I know there are two versions of the YS1 I just need to find out if mine is the short geared version, I do know that the gearing is pretty short. I'm just having some slight trouble figuring this one out.

this is the end all...do the gear ratio calculations with the info from the first link on the ys1..and the calculator in the 2nd link....then find out if your gears end at the mph the calculator says and youll know

dont take offense but everyone swears they got a short geared ya ya ya and when they do this and find out they have an ls tranny they feel bad

so Ross, which tranny do you have? is it actually the real shortest geared tranny? I think mine is

the cable LS trannys have shorter gears than the newer hydro ones, correct?

 

Put trans in 1st gear and spin the input shaft 14.4 turns to 1 full diff rotatoin is a GSR
Spin the input shaft 13.7 times to 1 full rotation of the diff you have yourself a LS trans
