Default Need help with wet sanding my headlights

Well, I bought HID retrofitted headlights a few weeks ago and i'm was not satisified with all the scartches they had.

I was told to wet sand them and they will be much better.

I started wet sanding them with 1000 grits then I did 2000 grits. They did not have 1500 grits.

Then I applied mother's plastic/head cover polish.

My results were very shitty. The headlight was very smooth but it was very foggy.

Let me make sure I have this write, for wet sanding, you get wet sanding paper and just keep on applying water to it, right?

I'll get pics asap.

TIA

Try using 400 grit, 600, 1000, 2000, wet sanding each time. Then use Turtle wax rubbing compound, then use the clear platic cleaner/polish, then put a good coat of wax on it, It worked absolutely great on my Dad's ES-300. It took about a hour with two people each working on one headlight. It is tedious, but the results are worth it. If you want more info go to : http://www.g2ic.com/tegtips/lighting/12.html

Here's some pics of what I did so far:

Below is the messed up side, or the side I tried

Here's the other side that I did not touch:

And this one is another pic of the one that I tried:

Finally, I got sick of it and decided to get a car wash

yeah, wetsanding is constantly keeping a flow of water to the area you are sanding as well as having the sand paper itself being wet. and turtle wax would help i think, i did this on my cf hood.
and is ur car lowered? looks high

haha. why the F would u sand ur headlights? headlights are made of plastic, there is no way u will be able to clear that **** up. haha.

sucks for you.

all you need to do was use to plastx by meguiar or any cleaner wax / rubbing compound to clean up ur headlights.

If u find a way to actually clear that up, then let me know, cuz my headlights has some deep scratches i would like to get rid of.

Wet sanding works on headlights and tail lights. I have seen it done before.
I'm gonna spend more time doing it tomorrow.

just keep wetsanding w/ a about 2000 grit and add some soap to the water u use. Then get some flitz (silver tube from Ace hardware) and polish that in real good.

To me it looks like you rushed the hell out of the job and that is why it looks like ****. This stuff takes A LOT of time and patience.

plastx by meguiar is what i used 2 days ago and it worked, took about 10 mins of waxing on each headlight and that did the job for me.

try buffing with rubbing compound. Also, projectors doesn't look like they're aligned too well.

How else are you supposed to get the scratches out? Fill them in, you sand them down man.

And that plastX stuff only works for very minor scratches.
