Default >>best cams for a N/A jdm B18C-R<<

Sup,
need some advice on the best cams that will make me street and track happier??
I have the basic bolt ons I/H/E and money is not an issue. I'm really not interested in Boost but no hate to those who have it.
I'm still not sure if I should get Skunk 2 stage 2 or pro series, Jun, or Toda.
And yes I'll upgrade my valve train aswell. Any advise would help? THANXXX!!

First off you need to list goals. What you plan on doing with the car as in street, drag or RR. Then you need to use the search function and see what best fits your needs and budget.

I use my car as a daily driver and it serves as a weekend warrior. My best time on the 1/4 et is 14.2 stock with interior streetable tires and A/C basically stock in a 96 hatch. I have toda gears which I recently installed but never tuned it and hit the track to see improvements. I would like to throw in some cams and a better valve train or should I just surpass that and get an ECU. thanxxss

^^^ HAHA... You should think about were you would like your motor to be. If 200hp is the number you want...talk to people who got there and ask advice. You can't simply say "What cams should I throw in here?" Too vague....

Take a look at Rocket's cams...the M22xx is a really freakin awesome cam for mild motors...

Tuning is everything. I lost power with BuddyClub 3+ before tuning. After tuing was amazing.

So you suggest that I shouldn't install cams yet till I get an ECU.
I was really interested in Skunk 2 or Todas. What would you suggest? I've never really heard of the MX'SSS. Fill me in on some info on what would produce power even if I haven't installed and ECU yet

What kind of cams are those and why are they so great? Are they any better than Todas or Skunk or are they just some trial and errors camshafts?
Yes Im a newB but a picture like that wouldnt help much.

There is NO SUCH THING as a drop-in cam. ALL aftermarket cams MUST be tuned if you want to maximise the power. 90% of the time, you will loose power by installing cams until you tune.

To the basics.

If you have a reputable tuner near you that has access to a wideband oxygen sensor (for air-fuel tuning) and a dyno, and they know how to tune Hondata, that would be your best tuning solution. A cheaper alternative, but less tuning potential, is an Apex V-AFC. Regardless of what method of tuning you choose, you have to tune it using a wideband O2 sensor otherwise you are tuning blind.

Cam gear tuning is beneficial, but not nearly as much as air-fuel, and ignition timing tuning.

Things you can research:

Hondata
Crome or Uberdata
Apexi VAFC
Dyno tuning
Wideband Oxygen sensor

If ur going b18c with toda cams, get the toda c cams, but u must run the uprated valvesprings!

you MUST run an ecu to get power from the setup.

i'm currently trying to gather all the info i can about the skunk2 pro1 and bc 3+ cams, as they seem to be best $ per performance.

what type of valvetrain package will u use for the skunk2 pro1?
(bc 3+ is easy, as i'll just use their package, but i have heard bad things about skunk2 valvetrain)

Those cams are so hot right now because they improve the low to mid powerband considerably over previous cams, and they are at a very competative price (often under $700 new).

I'm running Supertech valvetrain, has some of the highest seat pressure, and uses very good quality metals. You don't have to run the same brand valvetrain as cams, its just a way for manufactureres to package them together. But Skunk2 valvetrain isn't bad.

i would personally run rockets m22x's gen2 springs and retainers, and his chip, you can get a good deal on a package from rocket, and the car will idle and run extremely well. Skunk pro1's would be a close second, they just require more extensive tuning

Sorry for your bad experience...Maybe you should visit another tuner.

What kind of shot are you thinking? 30...40...more...because if you're building a strong N/a motor then you'll need to sacrifice some compression for the nitrous. As a longevity measure...

Some say to buy a cam depending on your motor...Others say to build a motor around a cam.

I say, stay in budget, drivability and tuner ability. Don't break your motor if its the only one you can build at the moment.

90 shot, car has handled 75 easily , 90 wont hurt anything as for cr its 11.6:1 right now, i'm just looking for some good cams that will make me decent power in n/a.. as for high lope duration as well.
leaning towards These Buddy Clubs or possible skunk2 stage 2's right now

I think you should limit your N2O levels to around 40~ when dealing w/ a highlift cam. I would suggest the m22 over your choices because of the cams ability to make power on a mild motor.
