D-Series only (including ZC, of course), unless you want to hack together some kind of wagon/CRV hybrid setup.

 

so wich specific engine would you suggest for the wagovan with the 4wd tranny?

depends on what you want to do with it, and where you live, but i'd go with a SOHC VTEC or DOHC ZC/D16A8.

 

i was thinking of going NA and doing some OFF ROADING LOL in the 4wd wagovan

 

buy a truck...it will last longer off road.

Keep in mind the wagon has a known weak trans.....the tall gears will make a DOHC ZC run like crap..those need to rev....better to build any other modle than that one becasue you are hamstrung by tranny choice.

no......it would require massive custom fabrication...and you would have to fab the CRV rear diff into it also.

This is one of those times where you can do anything if you throw enough money at it.

for the right shop its possible....but my god would it be expensive.

Is this a car you already own...or just a project you are kicking around.

You can keep the stock driveline (like you really have another choice) and put a stronger engine in it ( an Si or a DX with MPFI conversion). I would avoid any of the Vtec engines becasue those need to rev for power and the gears of that driveline will prevent that. Stick with a sohc D series engine...make sure you are running a 1.6 with MPFI setup (But not an HF)and not the 1.5...not a DPFI...those will serve well in lower RPM driving....Turbo is not a reasonible option due to that being the weakest D series transmission. You don't want to be munching those every few months. If you want something with guts you will unfortunately be stuck with any of the other front wheel drive only modles....but you have the flexibility with those to swap in nearly anything your budget allows.

any other suggestions?</TD></TR></TABLE>stock injectors will feed all you need....get them R&Red..stick with 4-2-1 headers...avoid 4-1 remember with those gears you are after low and mid range grunt, pistons are fine....rods? not so sure those are really needed for what you are doing. You aren't doing boost and the D series has the wrong bore stroke ratio for big rpms...but that does mean they have better low end grunt than a B16. Not a big believer on spending a lot of money where its not going to matter. If you are pulling short block down to do pistons..recomend doing a plastiguage check on the rod and main bearings....replace those if needed.

Obviously a fresh water pump, idler and timing belt......failure of any of those and you trash the engine.


remember when you decide what you go after you need to carefully select components for the rpm range the car is running...with those gears you are always going to be running fairly low rpms so thats where you want your power to be. Just don't expect to running with the suburus.....it just ain't gonna happen.

the Vtec boys (same with the DOHC ZC) need to run a Si or ZC box or a hybrid of the two....otherwise you will never get or keep the engine in its powerband.

no you shouldnt you should go buy a whole b20 swap out of a crv and then put it in keep awd and be cool
