Default AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR?

OK AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH ANY SENSOR THAT IS LOCATED IN THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IN THE EXHAUST PIPE, Y REMOVE THE CATALYTIC AND NOW IT HAS A 2.5" EXAHUST PIPE INSTEAD OF THE CATALYTIC, THEN SUDDENLY THE NEXT DAY I WENT OUT WITH MY CAR I HAD CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, SO I RESET THE ECU AND ALL TO GET IT OFF, WHAT CAN I DO? SOME PPL TELL ME ITS THE 2ND SENSOR (OXYGEN SENSOR) IS THERE SOMETHING I CAN CHECK DOWN THERE. CAN I DISCONNECT THE RELAY OR THE FUSE?

HOPE THIS IMAGES LET YOU UNDERSTAND MORE.
THX TO ALL

it's because you removed the catalytic converter. the check engine light goes on when it detects the catalytic converter is not functioning. and it's not functioning because you removed it.

krystar is right. the secondary 02 sensor is there to make sure that the cat is working correctly. once you remove the cat and replace with anythin other then that, the readings will be out of speak. so now that u replaced it with your piping it reads bad so it throws the cel. Sometimes the cel will come on immmediately other times like in my case it took 3 days. But that is what your prob is. just the secondary 02 is reading bad flow. Performace wise though nothing will be effected because of the cel

WHAT CAN I DO CHAD? I WAS THINKIN IN MOVING THE O2 SENSOR AWAY THE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR... SO IT DOESNT RECIEVE HOTFLOW FROM THE MOTOR... WHAT U THINK? BY THE WAY MAN YOUR ITB MODS ARE TIGHT I ALREADY SAVED ALL THE PICS A VIDS. I LOVE IT !!! NICE WORK

Depending on what year and model the car you are refering to is, an o2 simulator will not help. The car's computer runs what are called readiness tests..... one of these tests is the efficiency of the catalytic converter. The ecm will basically.... as you are driving, intentionally richen the mixture, and lean the mixture while watching the voltages on the sensors. It needs to see them react in the manner it expects.... it not, it will set the Check engine light. Also... there is a huge difference between a 4 wire heated oxygen sensor and an AIR FUEL RATIO sensor. There is (to my knowledge) no way to trick the ecm and bypass an A/F sensor.... they are totally different than an O2.

he has a dc5 in which case what your talking about is wrong. the 02 sim will work just fine. the 4 wire wide band 02 sensor will tell you the air fuel ratio. the secondary 02 sensor is also a 4 wire sensor but only monitors if the cat is doing its job so you get the caspers 02 sim and it tells the ecu what it needs to be told.

The Casper's unit worked fine for me when I was running a test pipe on an '02 RSX-S. Highly recommend it.
