Yesterday I finally got to test out my car with my new slicks. Last time I was out dragging I hit a 12.9 with street traction on a nice cold day. Also the car was a lot heavier since I had a lot of my stereo stuff in it.
This time it was a very hot day, I had some new slicks that I just bought for the car, and I had my stereo removed (decks still in), plus I took some weight out here and their from little BS stuff I had in the car. (front seats still in)
The car dyno'd at 250whp and 162trq before the event.
My power is down a lot from my high of 265whp and 170trq. The reason for this is because my new Spoon thermostate is causing my car to run way too cold which causes the ECU to run a less agressive timing map so my top end power is off a bit. Also I've been having a problem with miss-fires. My power is now causing the car to miss-fire randomly. On the dyno these miss-fires have caused me to lose my whole top end and to jump around at 230whp. For the next event I'm gonna close the stock gap on a plugs some and see what happens.
Also the car weighed in at 2440 without driver and with a half tank of gas.
The main point of this event was to break in my new slicks (MT 8x22x15 on R rims) for an up coming event.
So the first run I got alright launch. The launch could have been alot better, but then again it was the slicks first time heating up, etc... All my shifting when I drag is just my normal quick shifting that I do on the streets. I don't believe in power shifting unless you really need that extra little bit. Anyway the first run I blasted off a timeslip of:
I1 1.860
I2 5.297
I3 8.123
mph (I3) 88.950
I4 10.550
E.T. 12.616
mph 110.017
The cool thing about my first run was that it was the first run on those new slicks, the car didn't missfire at all, and the car felt pretty good all around. The things that I would have changed on that run would be to get a better launch and to get a faster and harder shift down the line. My 2-3rd gear shift I hit the rev limiter and I also shifted to early into 2nd gear.
The second was basically identical to the first run however the car started to miss-fire badly in top of 3rd and 4th gear. The launch was still kinda bad since the slickes were still getting broken into. Here's the slip:
I1 1.870
I2 5.286
I3 8.126
mph (I3) 88.668
I4 10.587
E.T. 12.708
mph 107.357
Notice the huge drop in the trap speed vs. the first run! Yeah major miss-firing going on and a ping on the limiter into 3rd again. But besides that it was an almost identical run to the first one.
On my third and final run of the day I did my best. This time I was able to get the slicks to grab better due to a stronger burn out however the miss-fires got worse which hurt me a bit.
So without furthur delay here's the slip:
I1 1.793
I2 5.186
I3 8.050
mph (I3) 88.353
I4 10.501
E.T. 12.598
mph 108.548
Yeah a really good time however, the car miss-fired all the way down the track (2-4th gear) badly. The launch was way better however it wasn't as strong as it could be. The shifting was the same, however the power just wasn't as strong as the first run since I was getting a strong miss-fire.
Anyway this same setup the car should hit 12.3. And thats just from getting a better launch, getting a better shift into 3rd and for the car to not miss-fire.

lol, here's the slips. What stuff do I post without proof? I always figured I posted way too much proof for my claims, etc...
For one second I thought I could be lazy and not post them!
As for no VTEC with a charger, you do use VTEC. You just don't hear it as much unless you have a crazy free-flow exhaust.
Also as for a stand-alone I am running one in a way. Its a custom setup thats very similar to a Hondata without the datalogging. As for datalogging, yeah that will help however normally we can pinpoint the problem without it.
Here's the slips:

Here's a picture of the slicks per request:

Rboosted tell us the next time you go out so maybe we can up there in a little pack i think my friend would love to race you in his nos'ed CRX 12.7 with Wheels spinning
It's been running through my mind for forever. Turbo or Supercharger or NA? Which one? Which is the best for the ITR?
But 12.5, that's it. I plan to forget all about naturally aspired bastardized engines.
Versus stock internals and bolt on superchargers there is no comparison.
(to Mike and his dyno tuners)
great times. and i love the slicks. Where can I get some to fit my OEM wheels? are they wrinkle walls? are they street legal? a lot of questions, i know, but I'm very curious. I have two 14" 1994 LS wheels or a set of 15" 96 SE/GSR wheels I could put the slicks on and wondered which would be better.

ps- any rubbing with the slicks?
