Default So I was in the HPDE at PIR yesterday... it became an expensive weekend

The day was going great and the car was feeling better than ever. On the 4th and final run of the day on the 2nd to last lap, my driver's rear tire caught the FIA curbing (I think thats what it's called) on turn 12, spun my car 45 degrees to the right, and all 4 tires broke loose and slid into a 16,000lb set of 3 cement barricades at probably 45mph. When I was sliding I tried the gas and brakes but nothing really worked, when I hit I moved the barricade 4 inches back. End result is shown below.

My harnesses pulled the wind outta me and I'm sore as can be today. Other than that I didn't take much damage myself. I have to talk to G-Force though as my helmet was defective, the visor popped out even though there was no physical impact whatsoever. Under closer inspection the plastic hold in for the visor was cracked and this is only my 2nd time wearing it. This was my street car as well... so for a while I'm screwed. I also had to have it towed like 65 miles.

I completed one school before and this was the 2nd time I went out, my instructor went with me the first 2 runs and the 2nd set of 2 he didn't. He still signed off on my license and whatnot but who knows when I'll be able to come back.

I was thinking the same thing, then assumed this was his second comp school. That very well may have been a misconception though.

I see a roll bar and maybe harness(es) , but no full cage.
Not to say that it's not sad to see a busted car!!

I saw you there that day. Sorry to see it didn't end so well. After seeing your car, after the incident, I am glad to hear you are alright. T12 has gathered many-a- car.

I went to one school early this year to apply for a competition license and the instructor left before signing. Normally I would have had to go to another school but due to work I couldn't make the classroom session. I worked out a plan with Chris to do the HPDE but have an instructor ride for the first 2 sessions and sign off "Allowed to apply" for a competition license.

And yes, I had a rollbar but no cage, and I also had harnesses, my harnesses held me in enough to avoid any helmet contact with anything but my chest took most of the abuse and I got the wind knocked out of me hardcore.

The welds near the shock towers snapped, not much frame bending, more just complete breakage. Its a wrecker, I just need a new shell.

Was this a Conference school? They do things differently - or did, anyway when I was paying attention - than SCCA or NASA.

Better check your T1 because on a Comcast Cable modems it's only 10-15 minutes.
