ignition switch?
my accord starts fine, great actually, but the problem is that the key will only go to I and II....it wont budge to 0, and that also means i cannot take the key out of the ignition :\
i am planning on replacing the ignition switch this weekend, unless this could be something easier and less costly
help much appreciated

Wow pics where i actually took the pics myself, a first for me.
Anyways when changing your ignition switch, a few words of advice.
If you have to jam it in like i tried to for many hours, it won't work.
I'm not sure if you know what your doing so i'll post a little DIY

this is the ignition switch, goes on the left side of the steering wheel, near the tilt, (not do not disconnect the tilt, it will cause more problems when trying to reconnect it. If you look at the coil housing you can see where i ripped it out of there.

This is the part which does the switching, you can take that white part off, when you see yours and it is the problem, you'll see lots of black spots cuz the saudering/metal contacts is kinda burned.

These are the coils, which are the contacts for the switch.

If you look inside you can see where the coils line up.

See that green clip piece, on the top between the bronze coils and the green housing. well remove that clip, and pull the coils out of the harness/connector thing. it won't want to come out, but give it a good pull, and you won't wreck anything.
i didn't take a pic of it when it was apart. I tried to make it fit, it works now, but boy do i wish someone told me to take it apart.
you must take it apart for removal
(white part & coils come out the left side)
(it should be green, the housing/connector comes out from the right side)
Reverse for the install.
The new one is a nice dark blue one, well at least mine was.
Goodluck worse comes to worse.

^ That will work but I know an easier way. Get your Dremel and look at where the ignition can come out on. the tilt thing is in the ways so take your dremel and trim it down until you can just slide it out. Then you can slide it in. Also dont put back the third screw, just use the two on the sides. Its a bitch to take that screw out and its not worth it to put it back in. Good luck. Use your Accord Bible for picture diagrams, ect.
using a dremel is easier???? once i knew to take it apart, i finished the install in like 15 mins.
You want to trim it
when you could take it apart for a lot less time, mess, metal shavings, so you can take a piece out that just easily comes apart?
When it comes to installing parts in the interior, i'd refrain from shaving things down like the steering column so i can get a little piece of plastic out.......just IMO

that is not the ignition switch............that is simply the electrical portion of the ignition switch , you replace it if car starts and dies as soon as u release the key............he is having problem with the key which is the tumbler part of the ignition switch,, he need to take out the whole ignition switch , take it to a locksmith and have it repaired
i had that problem, asked for the ignition switch, part number even lists it as the ignition switch, the part i think you're referring to is where the key goes to, i think its called something else.
