kamikaze or dc?
i've been looking at the prices and stuff...and since the dc jdm header doesn't bolt onto a gsr, i was looking at the kamikaze. its a 4-1 design with a 2.5" collector just like the jdm dc header. whats your opinions on these headers? all i have right now is aem/apexi ws...after the header i'm going to get itr cams and gears. how do these headers compare to dc? anyone have these headers?
comon guys...what other headers in the range of 400 are good for the money. greddy? comparable to dc? if i can't get the jdm 4-1...would the reg dc 4-1 be better than a 4-2-1 design?
dc jdm 4-1 is only $289 from http://www.inlinefour.com have fun w/ that crossmember though
For that money get the DC JDM or ITR JDM header. Then you need a 2-1/2" cat made to fit your year vehicle and everything is a bolt on deal. The Kami header for with the 2-1/2" collector is the same length as the JDM headers. They do make a Kami header that bolts onto the stock ccat but the down pipe goes from 2-1/2" to 2", but you really don't want the Kami header for NA.

where do i buy a good cat that isn't so expensive so it'll bolt up? what about the reg dc 4-1. or a greddy or apexi, comptech?

We offer OEM JDM and DC JDM 4-1 packages including a bolt-on Carsound Cat, or the cats seperately. Drop me a line if you need pricing info.
The Kamikaze will work on a non-SC car, its primary-design just makes it more beneficial to SC setups, thats all. Kamikaze wouldnt be on the top of my list in terms of quality, unfortunately, so if you're not SC'd, youre better off with another brand, IMO.

i was looking at the test done during the header test and the comptech header did as good as the jdm 4-1. and it bolts up? what do you guys think of this header?
ok guys...i think i'm gonna get a migwelded comptech. its a 4-2-1 "steeped" design. its a kewl design. its like 389 shipped. i hope its comparable to dc
The Comp Tech header wasn't a real bolt on for the header test. It used a special stepped test pipe in order to bolt up to the full 2-1/2 exhaust. Don't expect the same gains by bolting it up to the stock cat/exhaust. If you want to get something just so that it will bolt up to the stock location then get the DC 4-2-1 since the primaries are bigger on the DC (1-5/8") with 1-3/4" secondaries. The CompTech has 1-1/2" x 1-5/8" stepped primaries. But if you want something that performs better get the DC JDM or ITR JDM for $100 more.
just get the ITR JDM and buy a cat from SMSP. I compared both the JDM ITR and DC JDM and the DC looked very low quality compared to the JDM ITR. To me, the JDM ITR was worth the extra $100. You can also use heat shields with the JDM ITR making it look like stock and the heat shields keep the temperature under the hood low.

2 1/4" anyways. So he'd have a restriction at the exhaust now vs. the header (on the header test for the Comptech 4-2-1)...he'd still have a restriction. The Comptech 4-2-1 at least would be a straight through design; stick a high flow cat on there and that's a pretty comparable system to that used on the header test (minus the exhaust part)...and the JDM setups that a lot people run here aren't even the same as found on the test anyways (due to 2 1/4" exhaust)...if only 2 1/2" exhausts were more common.
