i've searched but couldn't find the answer to my question,

i know the 98-02 have the short shift adapters but the stick is hella high, so do they make shorter ones? if so, where and how much do they cose? or do they sell a combination of the short shift adapters with the shorter stick? TIA

I cut my shifter as well, I did not bother with the short shift adapter. Cutting the shifter lowered the shifter by over 2" and the throw is definately shorter (not so much of a "row")

Here is a great writeup:

http://www.filtsai.com/accord/...x.php

There is a short shift kit for 6th gens though too. It comes as an entire assembly that bolts in. I can't recall the site where I saw it but it costs about 130. Then you send your old assembly in and they give you a little $ back for the core. I think the company is just some people refurbing the ones they get in and fitting a shorter stick in there, then cutting and rewelding the part where the cable attaches.

Hey thanks for the link.

I've been looking for something like this for a while.

My current setup is a cut-down shifter, and a short shifter adapter.

If someone, wants the adapter let me know, but I'm going with this shifter.

Thats the one! I saw that a while ago but I never saved the link. I am going to have to save up for one of those.

For now I just cut my shifter and threw on a **** I bought on ebay.

Is that of your current setup?

If so, DAMN, how low did you cut that shifter?

Yeah, that's how it is right now. I cut the shifter a hair over 2". I left enough room to compensate for the bend in the shifter...barely... I had my stock shift **** on there and it looked cleaner but I wanted it a bit shorter.

This **** allowed me to really screw it on there low. I think I am at around 5-5 1/2 inches high now. The original stock shifter was like 8 inches tall!

I really like the feel, much less effort to shift. I am thinking about putting the short shift adapter on too for a little less throw. I would like to get the true short shift kit from lean racing, but I can't justify the $ yet... especially since mine is shorter for free!!

I installed a neuspeed short shift adapter, cut down and re-threaded my shift rod, and installed an ITR shift **** with ITR shift boot.

Couldn't be happier......even tho the ITR **** was damn expensive!

LeanRacing.com, you get money back to if you send in your old shifter. Money well spent I would have to say. Even though I had to take out both seats, my center console, both under panels, and was able to do some good cleaning while my car was completely empty.

WHAT?

Do you really need to go through all of that in order to install their shifter?

Do you like their shifter?

Looking at the pictures provided, it seems that you drove around with a stock shifter and a short shifter adapter. From that setup to the LeanRacing shifter how much shorter is the throw?

Thanks

Honestly, I never really notice much difference with the adapter. Once I put the short shifter in, huge difference right away. The only problem that I can even care less about but some people might not like, is since its shorter its right next to the ebrake, but you get used to it right away and doesn't affect the way you drive. So by getting rid of the 12 foot shifter, and switching to this I would reccomend it. Like I said before, if you go with leanracing.com, and you send in your old shifter, I think you get 30 or 40 bucks back.

*Just so you know I think the adapter is 80 bucks(worthless), and when you send in your old shifter, I think the price came to $130. If anyone's looking for the adapter Im looking to get rid of it

Cutting the shifter itself is not a true short shifter. U just decease the leaverge that was one there. The distance is shorter, but you have to apply more work.

Especially when the topics retains towards short shifters with a shorter rod.. then again, we all like to talk OT here in the accord forum.
