Default "ITR-CSI" or "FS: Slightly used ITR pistons, ring lands extra"

Finished the tear down and stripped the rings off the pistons, this is what I find:

Found these aluminium shavings trapped in the oil passages beneath the main bearings

My main bearings looked like:

The block goes in to the shop this week. Hopefully everything goes in ok and I don't have to spend any unforseen $$$$$$$

JB weld solves all.

p.s. nice fake penny.

p.p.s. does this explain some of your blowby?

ouch. That would cause a few problems. Any ideas what would've caused it?

OT. Why did you take a picture of the metal shavings with a fake penny?

I think it was the Turbocharger. That's just my guess.

i've gotta think the block is trash after that.

did you see any scoring or more importantly gouging on the cylinder walls?

Its broken ring lands, not a rod thru the block. That is slavageable with a rehone at worse

Oddly enough, the cylinder walls look smooth as glass, except for the one with the good piston. It has a very faint scratch in it, I can barely catch it with my fingernail.

Fake penny. lol

I'm actually pretty glad to see that my ringlands were shot. Now I don't feel so bad upgrading .

with a chunk of ringland disconnected from the piston, i would've expected some pretty serious gouging in the cylinder walls, enough so that unless you were going to bore it out, the block would be junk. well, i suppose you honda guys could just re-sleeve it. forgot about that.

The cracks in the lands were really hard to see, they only fell out once the rings had been removed.

Engine had 60,000kms on it, 20,000 turbo'd.
