I like the mailman!!
He brings me nice things
Now I have a question. I remember a while back there was a big discussion on the placement on the EGT probe. Seemed like people were torn between inseting it in a runner, or at the point the 4 runners merge. Never did find a good solid answer though as to the most accurate position for optimal readings. So, on a GReddy 4-1 cast iron mani, what do you think?? The runners are very short before they merge into one, so should I tap into the merge, or should I stick it closer to the runners? Any input would be apprieciated!

hey dave,
you're right in that there has been a lot of debate on where to put it.. some people have even put it AFTER the turbo...
I would personally put it also in Cyl #3 before they merge.. but I would think that if you do put it further down stream from the block, you just have to account for that and realize the readings will be lower.
btw, you get your hondata yet?

Now what about on us DRAG Mani users. ideally we would want to use the cylinder that gets the coolant LAST, to produce WORST CASE SCENARIO numbers, correct? does anyone know which cylinder this is?

Alright, I understand that u guys want to put the probe on cylinder #3's runner b/c its normally the first to go bc its runs the leanest. Guys, when my first motor went, it was cylinder #4. What happens then? U don't read it. I have mine now on the downpipe. Yes, u get lower readins bc its after the turbo, but this is the way I look at it. While your car is running good, u get a reading. Its an average. Now if u are racing a year from now and u see a higher temperature than "normal," then u know something is wrong. Just my .02 cents. Good luck Dave. Hey, if u want, just go by 4 of those suckers!!! Put one on each runner and then you'll be set.
