why don't you spend "a couple thousands" and get it outta their. Either way if you want power out of the sohc you need FI.

Boost it and it can def gain more power than a B16

How much power do you want to make?

If you are okay with no more then 220whp. I would go with a custom turbo setup on the D15B...

If you want to make more then that you would have to go with a motor that would be able to hold more, like a B18C, B18B/A or even the B16... But Dont waste your money on a B16 its still a torqueless 1.6L...

I agree with everything except the part of wasting money on a B16...if u turbo the motor u will have tons of torque, if u build it, or even stroke it N/A again u can create more torque. To be honest every Honda motor is a torque-less wonder when compared to the competition...
To the original poster what u should be considering is how much money u want to spend, how much power u want to make, and is it gonna be daily driven or a race motor/ car

Hypothetically speaking, yes. And better.

What kind of turbo and manifold are you planning to run when you make your homemade turbo setup?

waste 1-2 grand on swaping your engine to a B18c or LS/Vtec...trying to get power out of a small non-vtec sohc engine is challenging w/o FI....just put the money into an engine swap then just build that engine

is this the d15b vtec, from japan? that motor is quite a bit lighter than the b16 motor. ask yourself how long youre gonna keep your car, what would you like it to do? why spend thousands to get a d15 to perform with a b16 when you could ls/vtec a b18 a/b motor and beat one? if its a non vtec, do a mini me swap, and boost it. have fun getting rods for the d15. trust me, i have a built d16y8, forged and cryotreated. although very fast, i wish i wouldve started with a bseries. now im building an ls/vtec.

how is that? if he turbos his D15 he'll make about as much power as a stock B16A. i had a D15 in my CX a while back and those things suck *** i cant imagine it being much better turbo. a B16 is alway hated on for some reason i cant seem to understand... people saying B18A/Bs are better than a B16 because it has 'more torque'...all 14ft/lbs, meanwhile its down 25hp.

i would suggest a B16A for reasons of price, if you have more get a B18C (SiR/GSR)

I agree 100%. The b16 is a great motor, and has alot of potential if it is built right. from my experience with sohc and dohc I will take a properly built n/a b16 over a turbo sohc any day.

your d15 cx is different than D15b..... D15b is great for boost... its a square motor... rod to stroke

Noob. People all over this forum have turbo SOHCs putting out over 250whp- All for less than the cost of a stock B18C.

He didn't say anything about turbo-ing a stock motor.

Please you don't know what the word potential means. If you want to take the literal definition of the word, then NO ONE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD has taken a B16, or a D15 to it's "full potential."

Can a B16 make 300whp? Yes.
Can a D15B make 300whp? Yes. And for less money. Period.

Since you're a n00b on the website, I assume you've missed the countless threads regarding the Pros vs. Cons of Ds vs. Bs- With informational contributions from unbiased engine builders from the B and D series world alike.

And don't assume I'm biased toward SOHCs.

Why does everyone hate the b16. Yeah you can make some hp out of the sohcs but not as much as b16. Exospeed racing in cali, are the sohc gurus and have been breaking records with them yeah but not as much as b18 or b16. Just let it go.

Some people are against the B16 because it's a lot less cost-effective than a turbo SOHC.
