D4 light flashing and tranny shifts rough
I have a 1995 Honda Accord EX...the RPM guage jumps back and forth and sometimes while driving idles at 0...a few days after noticing this issue the D4 light started flashing and the transmission started to shift roughly...both of these happened at the same time with no prior warnings...I was told it was the Transmission Control Module which I had replaced and did not fix the problem...does anyone have any other suggestions as to what the problem may be?

A flashing D4 light ain't good. It usually means your tranny has serious problems. All of your problems can be related to tranny failure. I'd take it to a dealer or somewhere reputable for codes and maybe even a teardown.

Re: D4 light flashing and tranny shifts rough (F23Coupe)
would the tranny jsut fail with no prior warnings...i mean everything was fine and I got on a ramp to enter the interstate and the light started blinking and the transmission was shifting hard....are there any other possibilities other than the TCM?

Re: (v4lu3s)
can someone tell me in detail how to get the codes? I know where the 2 set of wires are with the connectors but I am unsure how to retrieve the codes...I saw the illustrated picture which had a "jumper wire" but where do I get this wire and how do I use it?

under dash rt side below glove box ,,there is a 2 wire connector , jump it , put key on and read the flashes on the instrument cluster,,a long flash means a 10 a short flash is a 1 ,,
so 1 long 4 shorts would be code 14 ,,
so 1 long 4 shorts would be code 14 ,,

Re: (hydeehydee)
Some small guage wire. I've un-bent a small paperclip and slipped it into the contacts BEFORE turning on the ignition switch. Then turn key to position I. Don't crank the engine (position II). Look for that blinking light, then count as has been described.
