as some of u may remember i was in search of an ef shell after i got in an accident...while searching for one i cam across this guy selling his 91 b16 ef hatch for 1500 dollars...i called him and made arrangments to meet on saturday...saturday comes along and his phone is disconnected...so on monday as im lookin through autotrader i notice the same ad with a different number...so i call him and the guy tells me he only wants 1k for it....he syas all it needs is a wire harness cuz i guess some wires burned and what not... seems that he had a sound system installed before and the wiring was just gid awful...im almost certain that one of the bare wires hit the chassis and shorted the system...so i bought the car and had it towed to my shop in pasadena...im almost done with the gutting and cleaning of the interior and next is gonna be all the electrical work..i already know this is gonna be a learning experience since all i know so far is mechanical and havent even messed with electrical yet...its got a mugen kit currently on the car with sum super cheesy tail lights...im gonna swap the rear bumper and lights from my wrecked hatch over and pick up an oem front bumper...

tell me what you guys think

Was going to say that to, but I noticed a lot of times, the internet will make engines look like there sitting weird.

 

thats a great buy...you could part that car out for more than you bought it for.

u guys are correct the motor does sit crooked...it is not fully bolted down yet...its just sitting there for the time being...the guy who i bought it from didnt know what he was doing and thought that he could pull the motor out by taking out the bolt for that mount and yanking at it with a crow bar...check out where the mount sits on the drivers side...its all bent out of shape...also he somehow managed to bend the mount...no biggie i got a spare mount and the metal can be hammered back into place...damn ricers dont know how to do anything right...i figure ill have the car on the streets in about two weeks. three tops...

 

i swear ive seen that hatch before on craigslist. is it obd1 by any chance?

 

for only a grand i would definately jump on that sh*t. doing the harness isn't as bad as most people think. it's just a little time consuming.

yeah there is still a lot left to do on the car...i havent even touched the coils yet...i just bought it yesterday...finished up stripping all the interior today...tomorrow im gonna try to tackle this wiring issue and try to pinpoint the problem...im sure it will be very easy..yeah im gonna put the oem tails back on from my wrecked hatch..as well as oem bumpers...i dont know why but i might keep the side skirts...lol..i like em...i wanna put amber corners though i think that they will look better than the clear ones with that color paint...im gonna take pics every step of the way so ill keep you guys updated...haha i like the smurf name...maybe smurfy or smurfster

**** i never even mentioned he gave me a free pr3 ecu and a mid wing for an ef hatch as well...he thought the ecu was burned and said i could take it...when i got back home i opened it up and it was spotless...plugged it in to my wrecked hatch and it worked fine...and the wing has never been painted so all i got to do is give it a quick prep and its ready to get sprayed..i haowever did notice that the front rad. support is slightly bent...(looks like he yanked on it with a crow bar or something)...oh well i cant complain

i think that body kit and the tail lights are freakishly gay, but other than that it looks nice, wish i was bright enough to get a b16 ef for 3k instead of a std d15

the car had no radio or system in it when i bought it... i said he HAD a sound system in it...i do however have some sound components in my FS thread..

its already been established that im putting stock bumpers and lights back on...u paid 3k for a std? damn i feel bad for you...i got a full b16 swap if ur interested
