Default Comptech s2000 - good choice?

I am purchasing an s2k and have been looking over some aftermarket parts for it. I have the money to spend on the 6k supercharger, which "says" will put the s2000 at low 4's in the 0-60 and 12's in the 1/4 mile, but I wanted to see what some side effects of this supercharger could be.

That's a little bit optimistic. In the 4's? Doubtful it is that much of an increase. 12's? Maybe low 13's, but I don't think 12's are obtainable out of the box.

Is going fast in a straight line the goal of getting an S2000? If so, this might not be the car for you.

Just being honest.

Get the car...then come back and we'll discuss what you should do with $6,000. Its always a funny post to see when someone is "thinking about purchasing an S2000" or is going to but they havent yet...and their already suited up and ready to dump thousands into one modification. Again...get the car, then come back to us.

getting 12's with a SC is alot harder than everyone thinks...It takes a while to nail the launch, and you need some good supporting mods...

plus the SC makes all its power in the high rpms, so your not making much power at the begining of a 1320 run...

This honda-tech forum was strictly for the purpose of obtaining answers to the questions that I asked. i.e,

When you were attempting to respond to my post, I was out in my C5 Corvette wich I am willing to give up for an s2000. Now you can understand that I DO have the money to spend on the s2000, have 6,000 to spend on a supercharger, and am "suited up" to purchase both. So if it helps you sleep at night, lets just say that the s2k is sitting in my garage. Maybe you'll come up with something more intelligent next time.

Thank you - "hypnosis racing"

Also, the only question that I needed a response from was, 'What are the side effects of the Comtech supercharger?' I DIDN'T need advice on how to live my life. Thanks anyway, dipshit.

The whole 1/4 mile thing is deceptive on many cars.

From a roll... how does the Comptech/Vortech S2000s do?

Very well... slightly faster than I'd say the 380hp carrera S which still has a better 1/4 time because of torque/grip/launch.

And in honesty, it doesn't matter which car you buy, because like I said in my other post, you're going to buy what you ultimately want and feel comfortable driving.

As for Comp-Tech...they make excellent products and are really a fine tuning company, quality products and a better than average price.

re-read my post. Those numbers are too optimistic for an out of the box comptech supercharger. There. Did I say how to better spend your money? Or how to refinance your 50 gallon fish bowl? No.

Side effects? Like any NA to FI car, you put a bit more stress on the drivetrain and motor. The reason I said in my post that this car might not be right for you is due to those reasons. The diff isn't as strong as a C5's diff, and the ring gear will start ot backoff and shatter itself against the ring gear. The CV joints will get a bit more wear on the rear axles. However, the majority of the cars that are just SC'ed are holding up just fine fine fine. I'd recommend a comptech reinforced diff housing in addition to the SC.

OK getting back to the original question.
The vortech and comptech stock supercharger kits as posted above, make maximum power at high revs (sort of follows the stock power curve).

These kits will generally only make your 1/4 mile run approx 0.2- 0.5 seconds quicker.

Any s2000 running 12 second quarters has a big HP turbo kit on it, and a lot more mods than a simple $6K bolt on supercharger.

Actually I take that back.
Some drivers have managed a 13.7 quarter mile time, completely stock (generally doing a 7000rpm clutch dump)
It may be possible to get high 12 second passes if you have a re-inforced diff, drag tires, exhaust + SC.

To reach 12's in with a s/c you need at least 7psi, some tuning, gears and a perfect launch. With that you might hit a high 12 one out of five runs. Stock s/c'ers are not capable of 12's.

Even with all the mods, a 12 sec S will not feel as fast as your 12 sec Vette. The power is all above 5000 rpm so it isnt instantanious in anyway.

As mentioned before, youll start breaking diffs and axles trying to get the car to launch.

Youll be fine normal street driving with the mods.

you have to understand that a lot of people are allways saying that they will buy an s and when they do they will do this, that and the other thing.

most dont, so its easy for us to be skeptical

sureley you can see that it is kind of funny that you chose the user name that you chose.

dont be so defensive, these guys are just busting your *****. and when it all comes down to it nobody gives a good goddamn what you do or i do or my uncles roommate does.

but, you certainly wont get much assistance if you cus people out.

to answer your question, the supercharger wont make the s run 12's

the supercharger with a beefed up diff for harder launching, a good header, a pulley for more boost and maybe some stickier tires and a 5.77 final drive. then 12 are likeley

it is not any easy car to drag race, and it was never intended to be used for drag racing.

if you get it make sure you are getting it for the right reason.

lol...are you trying to impress me? I never spoke on your life or income, you seem quite quick to throw both out here on the board though, and i could care less about either. I never said you couldnt afford the damn thing, you're getting a used S2000, we got 5 high school kids a week buying the damn things...it aint that hard to do. I was speaking on the fact that you dont have the car and you dont have a clue what it drives like yet, so get the car...drive it, and then come back and my guess is, you'll probobly want to put that $6,000 in other places on the car.

But since you're obviously trying to compensate for something by putting your personal business out there, go get the supercharger, have fun with it, wrap it around a tree for all i care...lol. As far as the dipshit comment, seems to me like it describes the way you're acting quite well.

Now go get some midol and let us know when you're ok.

lol based on the I'm not sure if you were able to comprehend sarcasm or not. That's what the was there to indicate.

I guess I shouldn't assume people in this forum can understand such things though.
