Which should I build... Turbo B16 or Turbo LS ???
Wondering which engine I should build a Turbo B16 or either a Turbo LS engine. Helped my friend swap an LS engine and later a GSR engine into his CRX and install a turbo kit. Now I'm ready to get one of my own seeing how his car runs. Just wondering which would be a better base to build from a B16 or B18B. I want around 350-400whp reliably nothing spectacular compared to what some of what you guys are pushing. Im not really sure the Pros -vs- Cons other than having VTEC and not having it. Thanks for any input.

I'm partial to the B16. Add some Type-R cams to the mix and you should have a strong motor. Just don't cheap out on engine management.

i have a b16 with a 60 trim t3. obviously the vtec head will flow better. i kinda wish i had the LS but your going to make more power with the b16. once my b16 blows up (hopefully not soon) ill just buy an LS

Friend's turbo GSR powered CRX has the LS tranny its good but it also revs higher than a turbo LS engine would I guess ??? .
This vid sucks took it with my cell but shows you how long the gears are at WOT.
Gotta have QuickTime also so might not even be worth clicking for most of you.

No I am saying shorter gears will make you accelerate faster no matter what you have... turbo, supercharged, N/A, nitrous, or a 1991 pontiac mini van.

Im not sure what you b16 guys paid for your longblocks, but I paid $200 for my b18b (and nothing was wrong with anything). I still bought new rods and pistons, valvetrain and Im under $1500 (still no tranny yet)

like the setup in the first reply. thanks for all the info. i will prob end up with a B18B not really sure yet just going to see what I can find for cheap.
