Default SRS light is on. no horn, how to check cable reel?

Yes, I did a search.

I checked everything over and all the wiring looks good. How do you know if the cable reel is bad? I am pretty sure I installed it right. There must be a way to check it for sure. For both my SRS light and my horn not to work, that just doesn't sound right. I checked my fuse, my brake lights work. I have a CTR steering wheel in a 2000 civic is. My horn use to work.

I know how to remove the cable reel, I just find it weird that there is no way to check it.

replace the clock spring, thats the "reel" behind the steering wheel

If you have no horn and the SRS light is on your clock spring is definately broken. There is no need to check it.

But to take it out you need to disconnect both terminals from the battery (negative first). Then remove the plastic pieces on the side of the steering wheel. Use a Torx bit to take out the bolts for the airbag then disconnect the airbag wire and plug it w/ the red cap. After removing the airbag twitch your steering wheel so it locks. Then use a ratchet with an extension to take off the steering wheel. then remove the 3 or 4 screws holding in the clockspring and then seperate the wiring. Then put in the new one.

The clockspring costs about $45 from a parts yard. When putting it in and handling it be sure not to rotate it too far in either direction or you will break the electrical connections inside of it. When you put it in be sure the yellow indicator is centered and line everything up so it is straight, an improper installation will break the clockspring if you go from lock to lock.

Sorry this is so long but it should help some w/ your problem and it will clarify this issue for people on H-T since there is no previous posts on how to do this.

If anyone needs more help with the airbag components feel free to PM me and I will do my best to answer your question.

EDIT: When you get the clockspring you need to get one that matches your cars options. For example if you have no cruise control and you get on for cruise control you will have to make a jumper to make it bypass the cruise control and work for you car.

By clockspring, do you mean the cable reel? Mine is not out of the car right now, but I don't recall that it can be disassabled.
