Default 601whp/430tq, Stock Sleeves, Stock ignition

I just got off the dyno a few hours ago with a SFWD/T4 car that was just finished for this Saturday's Honda Day at Englishtown. The setup is incredibly simple, but it is making insane power for the simplicity.

Car: CRX Si

Engine: B18C1 .020" over, stock sleeves, CP 9:1 pistons, Manley rods, OEM bearings, stock, unported b16 head, Manley valve springs, ARP headstuds, OEM headgasket, Edelbrock IM, stock b16 TB, ITR cams

Mods: Full Race T4 manifold, Tial 44mm wg, Precision 4067 .68a/r, 4" dp, 4" exhaust, Full-Race small backdoor IC, 2.5" charge pipes, Tial BOV, Bosch 1600cc injectors, FJO injector driver circuit, Walboro 255lph HP fuel pump, bone stock ignition and wires, NGK heat range 9 plugs, 3bar, NepTune

Tuning at 27lbs sunoco cam2 (110 octane):

This Saturday will be the car's first outing. Most likely, the clutch is going to slip. At 29lbs, the clutch was slipping on the dyno (ACT 4 puck). He will be upgrading to an Exedy twin disk and a roll cage as well. This once again proves that stock sleeves are more than capable of handling high horsepower if built and tuned properly.

that's nuts on a stock ignition, but if the car is doing fine to you!

Nice #'s!

One note I would like to make about this car is that on Monday the engine bay was empty, and parts were still being ordered.

No, Epic Tuning's car. Chris' 600whp stock sleeve engine is still running strong though. A little too strong for his clutch

Hey Jeff, is the motor have block guard on it? That's awesome power for some stock sleeve. What do you think his power band would be if he was using like 9.5:1 - 10.0:1 comp. or maybe a little higher? thanks. Congrats.

I hate blockguards. I never use them in any of the blocks that i assembly. They really dont do anything at all, except distort the cylinder bore overtime.

The powerband itself would have been the same, but another 15-20 ft-lbs of torque increase. I was able to do a test awhile back going from 10:1 compression to 9:1 compression, with everything else the same on the car. The spool time didnt increase at all, but once peak boost was achieved there was a loss of 15 ft-lbs of torque from peak boost to redline. Displacement is the only major factor in creating a powerband (exhaust volume, i.e increase spool), compression just adds cylinder pressure and therefore torque.

The poweband is laggy, but its strickly a drag car. I personally would hate to DD this on the street, but with shift points being at 9K+ and a b16a tranny, the car will just be dropping out of peak torque between shifts and still have 300+ ft-lbs to start accelerating onto once into each gear.
