Default My Custom AC Line

Here are some pics of my custom AC line. A local AC shop made this for me for under $100.00.

My full race manifold melted about 4" of my original low pressure AC line, so I had to come up with an alternative.

I wanted something bling, bling like screen name "muckman" setup but it was just too much for any AC to want to get into. I thought about buying a bender and some tubing and doing it myself but I was like *** it. Maybe I'll still go that route if I don't like this one.

So I had a 7-8' rubber line made with my orignal fittings.

Here are pics of Muckmans setup (if you don;t want me posting it up, let me know) and also of mine before i made some brakets to hold it in place and also made rubber grommets where the hose makes contact with sharp metal.

I didn't like how the hose sorta kinks in this pic to make the severe bend it needs to.

Let me know what you guys think. What could I improve on? Where else could I route the hose?

Can you post a wider shot of the tight bend near the compressor so I can get a better orientation?

One suggestion I have is to wrap another layer of hose around the parts of line where it comes in contact with rough cut sharp metal. Vibration over time will shred these lines. Im talking about the line where it drops into the bumper by the driver side headlight.

We used hardline in mine to avoid kinks. You can see the sharp bends near my overflow tank that would have been impossible with rubber line.

I wanted to use metal lines but no ac shops around here would take on a task like that. Even getting this rubber hose was a pain.

How did you make the ends that hae the original fittings?

They didn't put the fitting in the hose originally to fill the ac line, I was like gentlemen, how am I gonna pressurize this system? He got all cocky with me going over the standard procedure, I was like thats great, but how the hell you gonna do that with this line cause it has no fitting dumbasses!!

So I had to wait like another day or two for them to fix that sheit.

Sounds like he didnt plan it out very well. Mine are welded on in approx the stock locations. The fittings your talking about are called charge ports. They're a standard size so it shouldnt be anything unexpected.

Wait until you get the bill for the recharge. The price of R134a has doubled since last year.

Any real AC shop should def add oil when doing a full R134a recharge! If they didnt then they would be responsible for your compressor seizing up.

So far the kit is only available for the DC2 at $150 per kit. I know there has been interest in AC relo kits for EGs and EKs but since I havent sold a single DC2 kit yet, Im not going to invest anymore money into making more kits.

/shameless plug

maybe there just isn't that much demand for custom as in the DC2 chassis?

If you maybe used a little popular chassis ("cough" EG) you'd sell more of these kits.

I would have already bought one from you if you made them for the EG chassis.

Now you see what I got stuck with!!

That's pretty cool. So basically with any turbo setup that makes you lose AC, you can get new custom AC lines and keep it?
