Finished swap(s)......b18c into 94 coupe and d16z6 into 91 hatch..
This is the first swap i've ever done and i took the d16z6 from my 94 coupe and put it in my 91' hatchback(college car/daily driver) and i put a jdm b18c into my 94. everything went pretty smooth except for random **** along the way that always happens most of the time probly. main problem at first was finding a cherrypicker, a few friends had them but i could never get ahold of them for one and so me and my dad just bought one instead ($160). in the middle of the GSR swap we found out that the rear bracket mount was the wrong one so we had to send that back but i was gonna be taking the hatch down to missouri in like a week and that's why we did that swap right in my driveway. kinda a **** mess but it worked out in the end.
the baby...
the bitch...
kind of an overall view of what it was like... we had 3 honda engines on the floor at one time, kinda a mess but it's done and over with now....
wiring.... both swaps and like 17 lbs of solder later....**** that ever again
drop that **** in finally....
finished swap....
i'll take a pic of the hatches finished swap when i get my digital camera back if i remember.
basically it was start the 94 swap and without that bracket we did the other one and then we drove the hatch down to missouri to a friend's house and warp tour and then came back and finished the other one. i took AC and PS out of it and all it has is 4-1 ceramic dc sports header, hi-flow cat, ricer muffler, short throw shifter, stage 1 clutch and 8.9 lb flywheel, LSD tranny too. i plan on gettin CAI and cat-back exhaust sometime soon. i'm parking this in the garage for winter cause of the snow and i'm driving the hatch for college
but one thing..... there's a whiny noise that happens when i drive and i'm pretty sure it's the tranny. it doesn't happen in first really at all, 2nd it does it happens some and then 3rd - 5th you can hear it the best. it only does it when it's in gear, not neutral or when the clutch is pushed in, and you can only hear it when your just accelerating a little or slowing down slowly, under more then like 20% throttle or so you can't hear it. i was thinkin it was a bearing from what i've read on here but i'm not positive..... any help is sweet..

Hi there my name is Voutha ****
I have an eg sedan with a d16 in it and am wanting to drop in a b18c from a jdm sir-g. My friend Simon told me that this is a straight bolt on, is this true? He said that I can use the stock d-series gearbox as it will bolt up with the b-series. He also said that my stock sohc ecu would also work work as I just have to reset it and it will learn the fuel maps? retune it self? Oh and also whats this obd1 and obd2 **** ? do I need it or will my car be fast.
Can u help me please, im a real noob to honda and really want to swap my civic.

A d-series gearbox will not mate up to a b-series motor.... Some ecu's can be reflashed or chipped and what-not to make them work for your new motor. OBD (On Board Diagnostics) is the system used to monitor all things emissions in your car.

pretty clean swap yo
it would be better if you got the hasport a/c bracket and kept a/c

hey I'm doing a B18C swap on my 95 Civic right now, I just got the stock motor out, do you use the GSR wiring harness for all the wires or the stock wiring harness?

You can use either wiring harnesses. With the B18C harness you only have to extend the IAB wire and knock sensor wires from the engine harness to the ecu. With a civic harness you have to add the IAB wire, knock sensor wires AND extend them both from the engine harness to the ecu. If you have access to the B18C harness use that. Less hassle. Work smarter not harder.

so basically there's only two wires that you have to extend from the engine harness to the P72 ECU?
According to this site:
http://tech.hybridgarage.com/t....html
tell me if this is right:
the two wires are red/blue (needs to be pinned to D3) and the other one is pink/blue (needs to be pinned to A17)
how do I extend them? I have to remove them from the wire harness? I'm confused still.
BTW my motor is Automatic, don't know if that's gonna make a difference in the wiring.

nice swaps.
i have a z6 in my 91 hatch as well. i like it very much, especially cause i still get 35mpg, but im still using the dx 4spd trans and it sucks real bad.
what car are you experiencing the tranny whine in? my hatch tranny whines a lil bit, but its got 185k miles and still shifts ok, so until it breaks im not really sweating it

the tranny whine is with the coupe and the GSR, i plan on gettin to a honda/acura dealer soon but the closest one is 60 miles away....... so not sure when that's gonna happen, gotta go to college in like 2 weeks.

this just recently started happening on my ITR. my tranny mods are similar to yours (ie. stock LSD, upgraded clutch and flywheel). It really sucks crusing at 40-45+ mph with your foot barely on the throttle and that damn noise. My guess is the throw-out/back bearing? I was gonna run to the honda dealer up the street from me, but they said i'd have to leave it there and have them go into the tranny. No thanks. Im in the same boat as this guy, somebody help!

That's exactly like what I'm having, I can't really hear it much in first or 2nd when i'm accelerating but once i get to my speed i'm at and i just keep that speed you can hear it good.... it doesn't bother me a whole lot sound wise because that's what a CD player is for.. but i hate the sound of it mechanically, i just don't wanna get on it or drive it much...... i also think it's a bearing inside the tranny but i'm not positive and if i go to a dealer they'll probly do some crap and oh your bill is $389, so **** that.... so if anyone has ever had a problem like this or knows someone who has some info would be sweet

im sure you read it, but here it is again. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=596873
Although axles dont usually cause whining noises, I would just double check the axles. After that I would pull the tranny out and just replace the Input Shaft Bearing (aka Clutch Housing Bearing).
you should talk with BauleyCivic.
oh btw, how long did it take you to pull out the first motor and drop it into the car?

Quite a while because i didn't have a cherry picker for awhile, there's no place to rent one in my town and my couple friends that did have one i couldn't get ahold of
well i'm goin to college soon and my coupe is going to be parked for winter because i don't feel like takin it through a foot of snow just to go somewhere again. So that will probly be a project for next spring. Thanks for the input

so...you would definately reccommend a engine hoist and engine stand before starting?
im gonna be pulling and installing a motor in about a week or two.
wish me luck!
