PICTURE WHORING: my 88 dx is gettin a new heart (56k unfriendly)
Ok so i bought a 88 civic sedan for $350 the thing is clean with a clean title but the headgasket was blown. i actuallly drove it around the block before the engine was pulled. Its gettin a obd1 Z6 with a obd1 conversion (same setup i had in a 91 Lx that i crashed) i looked up the weights for this car and it said 2039. eat you heart out 91 crx si guys. well anyway to the pictures
first on an unrelated note this is my new 91 Civic EX. im keepin it pretty stock.
electric impact gun i got off harbor freight for $60. it works great and was well worth the money.

ok 88 dx in my garage

after work i got everything undone except the engine mounts (took about 1-2 hours)

For everyone scared to do an engine swap because of lack of tools. these are all the ones i used up to this point. the basic rule of thumb is the more tools you have the smoother it will go.

Engine Out

Now for the heavy duty machinery. The lift i got for 180 from kragen a couple years ago. it also works great and has pulled several engines. The compressor i just bought recently and it is a 33gallon one. It is SOOOOOO much nicer to use air tools. especially that air ratchet.

i bought the box for $50 and the tools were 150 on a DEEEP discount

Also i heard that a 77 cvcc radiator will work and i had one layin around (i had a 77 cvcc and i parted it)
i mocked it up and it came pretty close but will not fit without custom bracketry

enjoy ill have more up in a few days when i drop the motor in
this is my brothers sn but im 91civicEX

What I could never stomach was the black bumpers. I hated the unpainted bumpers on exotics in the 80's, the cheap cars in the 90's, and the raw finish on all current vehicles that even hint of offroading.
Despite that, the extra doors help make me fogive that.
What people don't usually get are the 90-91 models (and EX's to a further extent) are heavier mainly because of items that help performance in some way. What tranny are you going to be using? If its the z6 hydro tranny, you *must* do a good write up, all current ones are words or peices.

It looks good but it sounds like ****. ******* ricers and their fart cans.
Nice air compressor though. I picked up a 12 gallon compressor from my grandma. It's kinda small but it seems really powerful. 7scfm at 40 and 5.6scfm at 90.

i like the color too. it actually different between the two cars the 88 is a little lighter. im usin a si cable trans and the 91 has a fart can but its not my fault.yep the weight list says 2039 for a 88 dx
Really, that electric impact works? I've been looking at them, and thier either like ~$50 or $200+. I've seen some with like 275 torque, but I've also read some reviews that say thier crap. Seing as how I dont have an air compressor, the electric appeals greatly to me.

I have an electronic one also. The only problem I've had with the electric is that it wont get the crank pulley off without using the crank pulley removal tool. Now that I've got the compressor though I plan on purchasing a decent set of air tools in the near future.
