does anyone use inner tubes when running slicks?
i just got my MT slicks and was wondering if i need to run an inner tube with them? On there website it calls for them, but how many people really use tubes?
It is recommended to use tubes. Slicks will not seal like standard radial tires, so if you do not use tubes, air leaks will likely occur.
I also suggest that you use bead locks to prevent the slicks from spinning on the rim. If you use standard rims with slicks, tubed or not, it is likely that the slicks will spin on the rim which will cause the tube to rip if you use one and air pressure to leak.
This is especially for rims like bogarts and welds. I may be difficult to drill holes for bead locks on standard rims.
Only time I've seen slicks hold pretty well on rims is when used with a lot of psi.

thanks for the response! ok so i guess my next question is how many people use bead locks? how do you install them? I've got about 215 hp and am running a 22x8x13 slick. do you think i will have a problem with the tire slipping at 15-20psi?
What type of rim do you have?
If they are standard type like Rota's, TE37, etc. then it is not recommended to drill a whole and add beadlocks.
Now if you have welds/bogarts like:

Then it is suggested to beadlock.
On rims like weld and bogart, holes are drilled on the outer lip area as pictured above, usually on both outside and inside lips. I have 8 hole on each side per rim.
Since you are running 15-20 psi, you should be fine without it, just run inner tubes.
A good way to keep in check to see if the tire is spinning on the rim, put a mark on the rims and tire and line it up, every so often check the markings to see if they still line up or not. If they don't, then it is spinning.
