Problem: Hella Horns Installation
Considering that Im still learning about cars, this is my first time installing something electrical.
To others installing the hella horns was a piece of cake.
NOTE: Installation is done on a 95 integra.
My problem is the horn fuse (20A) keeps blowin. Can someone tell me if i installed the hella horns correct?
This is what i did:
1) Cut and removed stock horn.
2) Cut two 14 gauge black wires with identical length so I can connect the two horns together.
3) Connected the two identical wires to the connectors on the horns. I believe on the connectors of the horn it says a # 3 and # 38. Well I connected the wire from #3 to #3 and #38 to #38.
4) Bolted the 300 Hz horn on the driver side.
*Now its time to connect the two wires that came originally from the stock horn.*
I twisted the two wires together and made it into one wire. Since this wire is short I used a butt connector and took the left over 14 gauge wire for more length. At the end of this wire I used some crimp connector(the connector that has the circle on the end).
I attached this wire to the #3 terminal on the 500 hz horn.
5) Bolted the 500 hz horn on the passenger side.
NOTE: I did not use the relay because I read on all the other threads that you didnt need it.
Thanks for the help

You said that you twisted the 2 wires together from the stock horn to make 1 wire. I think that night be your problem right there. I had a similar problem with my spoiler when i twisted the 2 wires together from the stock spoiler and i had a fuse that kept blowing. Try untwisting them then see if it still blows.

Ill try that tomorrow morning. Im kind of confused. How did people connect the two stock wires from the stock horn to the new horn? Did you connect them separately each to their own terminal?
So if I connect the two wires separately one to the #3 connector on the horn and the other to the #38 connector.
NOTE This is being done on the 500hz horn.

The wires that are going to your horn, you tied together? I hope I'm reading that wrong, because if that's the case, you're causing a direct short, and that's why you're overloading your fuse.
Generally, you can connect all hot legs together, and all neutral (ground) legs (if you have to, I don't know the specifics of this install) but as soon as you connect a hot and a neutral you're asking for trouble.

Is it ok to add 14 gauge wire to the two wires from the stock horn because they're not long enough? The two wires are a little bit smaller than the 14 gauge wire.

No prob. I do electrical work sometimes on side jobs, and find electrical problems the easiest to solve.
Had my fog lights in and wired in a half hour.
But like LsHoney and I said, you're directly shorting your horns.
If you ever get one of those old screw-in fuses, like in the old buildings (the edison based fuses) and you put on in a lamp socket, and turn the lamp on, you'll see exactly what's happening. (Note I don't recommend doing that

Glad you got it figured out.
IMO, the FIAMM's sound a lot better than Hella's. Personally, I hate the "beep beep" sound, which the Hella Supertones still sound like--although they're louder than stock. I prefer a real car sound. (check the link for a sound clip)

So if anyone wants buy one, now you know a noobie can do it. Just got put some time and learn new things.
