Default Problems w/ Alaniz?

Has anybody else had a problem w/ Alaniz lately?

we sent a b16 head off to him along w/ toda springs, schedualed date was April 11th. $400 deposit was paid, at that time.... Joe called us on April 11th to tell us the work was started, and then the remaining $1427 was paid.... this was the last i heard from him!!!! The guy at the shop that owns the head, had emaild him and was told it was shipping out. I don't remember what the exact date on that was. So anybody else had these problems from him? I always heard good things about him, and hopefully we can get this resolved.

Mods if there is a better place for this post please move it!

Never heard anything bad about joe, other than he is extremely busy and has a pretty big workload. Excellent cyl heads from what I have seen.

alright just makin sure, you would be suprised the lack of effort some people put into getting ahold of someone and then make a post about how they got scammed or ripped off.....

I think people shoud exhaust all other means of getting ahold of someone before posting somthing on a public forum ya know?

anyways good luck!

totally understand .... i own a shop, so i understand how things can sometimes go, with misunderstandings etc .... thats why i didn't come on here and start saying "he ripped us off" or anything like that .... this was more of a curiousity to see if other people were having the same problem, or if someone on here maybe knew him, or had been to the shop recently and could give me an idea of what the problem may be. between the $$ for the port work, the toda springs, and the head itself, the money wrapped up here starts to add up quickly!

Yeah, its making me pretty nervous. The last contact I had with him was an email he sent me on Monday, May 9th. He stated "Thanks for being patient. It will ship out Thursday without further delay. Thanks." I am totally fine with things taking awhile to get started on, and to get done, but when things like this happen, I start getting irritated.

Kinda same thing happened to me, but I got my head finally, after waiting almost 3 months longer than promised. Head looks really good though, so I think it's just a matter of him being bogged down with too much work.

I am looking at some of these responses and simply can not believe my eyes. Are you people nuts?
This guy might do a good work, when he does it, but if he is so clueless to take people's money and parts to no end and than goes making promises and taking forever to deliver, I would not be surprised to see one of 2 outcomes:
1 since he built good rep he might try to deliver something and just outsource lot of work, resulting in shitty work
2 just plain close down and pop up somewhere else when things cool down...

So please, we are talking major money and parts here, there is a lot on the line for many people, so saying he is just busy does not help anyone involved.

There seams to be an agreement that he does do a good work, but he should also hire someone to manage his business for him...

have YOU ever dealt with joe before? trust me joe is one of the coolest guys to deal with. When he gets busy HE GETS BUSY! it might not be a good excuse but when you have as much work as he does let me see YOU do his job & be able to get a hold of everyone. The guy works hard he is one of the best around PERIOD

YOU are missing the point.

I am no putting him down, yes he is a solid guy.
I am just saying that he is in it over his head right now.
This same thing happened to my close friend and with all the integrity and everything he had to close down at the end.
When you take 1/2 year to a year worth of money ahead of time, there is NO WAY that you can catch up, either you accelaerate what you do and compromise quality or you refuse more orders to catch up and than you go out of busines because you run out of money( and ruin your health in the process)...

I hope you see where I am coming from. Joe is what he is, but at the end of day I do not know of anyone still in business that keeps over-promising and under-delivering (on timelines).
Simple reality is that he mis-managed his business, and now he is going down the steep slope...
I do wish him all the best, and it would be a loss for all of us if we can no longer get quality head work that he provides.

This happened to brad from RLZ, he took on too much work and got too swamped.
As far as i know he still ports heads, but is very carful not to get in over his head.

But i do agree, if a timeline is given, then you need to account for problems. And taking on work just cause its offered is what can kill small businesses, they promise what they can't deliver.

Im sure everything will turn out ok.

One of the primary things that helped Brad catch up was the development of his CNC program.

We received the head on Friday, July 8. Everything looks good ( http://www.transonicracinginno...t=205 ), but I did not receive any flow charts with it. I'm just glad to get it back, and am happy with the work so far. Like I said before, I'm willing to wait for things but, he should have handled this situation more honestly. From his post it looks as though he trying to solve his problem, but hopefully the quality won't go down from Joe not doing all of the work.
