your 2 camshaft sprocket should be pointing up by looking at the up words on them. make sure you have a buddy to help you out. the 2 camshaft sprocket should be straight pointing up.good luck
Each cam in your ZC has a spot where an open end wrench can be attached. The arrows on the cam gears will not point exactly up. Mine leaned slightly toward the front of the car. The cam lobes also have a line on them (use this as your guide). I matched this line up with the arrows that point toward the cam gear (they have numbers on them 1-4). You will need someone to help you hold the cams once the are properly positioned. There should also be about 12 teeth on the belt between the cam gears. Its very frustrating but take your time. I hope this advice will help you.
thanks for the info guys
now with the crank at top dead center, the cam sprockets (the arrows) should face straight up? or those little lines that are on the cam sprokets on the sides near the teeth? i heard one of them should be off 1 tooth.
this sucks its so frustrating
thanks guys please try and help me through this

---- the arrows that say up? both of them lean slightly towards the front?
"The cam lobes also have a line on them (use this as your guide)."
---- what cam lobes, i thought they were inside the motor. what line? and how is this what to use as your guide? this one totally confused me ALOT. please bear with me

my friend balistic crx and i just worked on his car. his car got stuck on the freeway last night and we thought his distributor got fried because it was giving us code#9 or code#8. dont know which one..but its now been fixed. it wasnt the distributor that got fried. it was his timing belt on his zc slip at least 5 tooth.
by looking on the 2 cam sprocket...take note on this. make sure you have both cams facing straight up with the words up on it. horizontally. yeah..make sure you have a friend and an open 2 wrench that would hold the 2 cam sprockets in place pointing straight up.
you mentioned something about 1 tooth off?? no!! make sure no tooth is off. the belt should be somewhat tight....but remember...put the belt first on the cam sprocket and have your buddy hold the 2 cam sprocket with the open wrench centered with the word up on it. make sure no tooth is off. use a marker or whiteout to determine that...that's your mark..then work your way through. yeah take your time. you'll appreciate your hardwork.
good luck and keep us updated.

yeah listen to my buddy vsual. after we did my timing belt, i went for a test drive and man that **** felt a lot faster than before. u should not have your came gear arrow facing a littel to the front, because it well off set your exhaust and make it come out to early. i had mines have the 2 cam gears point up. (the arrow and word up) so do not say that it will not work when the arrow will not stay the same on both cam gear because ive got mines done. TRUST ME DO NOT MAKE IT OFF SET OR ELS YOU ARE GOIN TO DEAL WITH SOME PROBLEMS
