Anyone Kno How To Install An Autometer Air/Fuel Guage?
hey do anyone kno how to install the air/fuel gauge? i think one goes to the ecu but im not sure wat wire to connect it on...itz for a 98 civic ex...thanks
um power, ground and o2 sensor it will be the white wire at the ecu (larger one of the whites in the small plug) or straight to the o2 sensor itself (white wire)
Power = 12 volt switched power, so it doesnt get power constantly when the car is off..
Ground = duh, hope you know this..
Sensor wire (green i believe) = goes to the white wire on your o2 sensor.. or it can go to the white wire on your ecu but i have heard that you get a better reading from the a/f guage when its wired closer to the o2 sensor..
make sure all connections are good and solder if possible and also use electrical tape..

if its an autometer unit, then i recomend installing it to your trashcan, those things are pieces of **** with a bunch of useless blinking lights.
I suggest wiring the O2 wire at the ECU so you have one less wire in the engine compartment. They is no negative effect by doing this. The signal does not diminish in the few feet of wire from the O2.

you can't dyno tune with it...but it is helpfull on the street.
I'm not impressed with mine because it only works at WOT, the rest of the time it bounces back and forth. I try not to go WOT everday so it is only useful to me on weekends.
This is how you should hook it up
black wire: any good ground(mine is connected to a nut and screw under the dash.
red wire: either the thick red wire or thick black w/ yellow stripped wire(doesn't matter both work) on 3 prong connector for ignition(connected to fuse under driverside dash).
purple:you should find the larger solid white wire(I believe it is on the middle connector on your ECU). Do not tap it into the white w/grey stripe or white w/red stripe those are not it.

your unhappiness with the a/f isn't autometers fault, its the honda o2 sensor.. but an upgraded o2 sensor and you'll be fine with autometer
I have one, I hate it, I can't wait for an EGT gauge so I can ditch this fancy blinking paper weight
I agree I had an air fuel gauge and it was totally inaccurate, I have a Greddy egt now.
