Default high idle after swap... please help

does anyone know if the knock sensor or crank sensor not being hooked up could cause a high idle problem? the obd2 ecu is looking for them but my obd1 motor doesnt have them. can i disable these sensors somehow? thanks for any help..

Check your throttle cable. Make sure it isnt too tight.

Chase your Vaccum lines, small leak can kick your *** all day long. Maybe IAC issues, If you can look. see what your IAC counts are at. Computer may be setting it to idle that high

yes it seems like a vacuam leak to me too but i cant find it anywhere. i think your onto something with the IAC but idont know how to check the counts. i read several threads about repinning the connector and disconnecting the orange wire at the ecu. i tried all of that but no help. i picked up an obd1 p28 ecu, i will try that when i get the conversion harness. thanks again.

I had this same problem but my TB gasket was upside down...(Vacume Leak). To check IACV what I did was disconnect it with the car on, rpm should change. Also My TPS sensor was off...and my car rpm ran high about 2000 when warm. Hopefully that help some.

To check counts you will need a scan tools. Display log tool of some sorts. If you have a DVOM you can check TPS Vlt. should be around .5-.7(High End).

Keep me posted, Doing a swap soon want to learn some fixes to problems!!!

ok, i checked the TPS voltage with my meter .5 volts at idle, goes up when i push the peddle. also the idle does change when i unplug the IACV. still cant find any vac leaks, even sprayed carb cleaner around manifold and hoses to find it, no luck.
i'll keep looking. thanks for the help.

With the IACV off the engine should idle at 500 rpm. Helms says to adjust the idle srew with the IACV off to 500 rpm(engine warm) and then reconnect the IACV ....But missing with the idle srew should be your last last last option.

If it idles at 500 with IACV off swap out the IACV...
Good Luck.

with the IACV disconnected it idles at 1500 rpms. i'm going to try a new intake gasket, but i dont know if i should use a d15b gasket, or a d16y8 gasket since the manifold is off my y8 and the head is a d15b. any ideas? thanks.
