BLOWN B16
well, i am sure many of you do not know me on here, but i have some rather bad news. last night at the track, while i was walking a 5 gen prelude with nos btw, i mis-shifted into 2nd from 3rd and toasted my motor. dont ask me HOW i managed that, but the result was the same nontheless. what is really funny is that i had JUST bought an ls block to go ls/vtec. i think my motor sensed that i no longer had a use for it and wanted that 2nd gear at 85mph as sort of a "goodbye cruel world" thing. anyway, after all my hardwork of keeping that motor in supreme runing shape i finally let it go at the track. and it wasn't even a decent track, it was a damn drag strip (scoff) for crying out loud. what a horrible way for a b16 to go. anyway, i guess project ls starts immediately.
I feel ur pain man... I blew three Honda motor's in my time... I just blew one yesterday... Even tho its all the motors i blew was the D16's, i just bought the white CRX a week ago and there it goes... https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=126367 to read up on my thread...

LOL ...sorry but the way you said that made me laugh...What 'were' you running before it let go..?

dude, its all mechanical from that point. the clutch is engaged and its going to spin that crank no matter what the ecu tells it to. i am just suprised that the synchros took the shift.
Man that sucks! One time i was gettin on the freeway and i was at about 4500 RPM and i went to shift into 4th gear and i batted it into 2nd and it hit the limiter for a couple of sec. and nothing happened, and the crappy thing is i have done this more than once and my car runs strong as hell!!! you guys must have bad luck
Good luck with the LS/Vtec though.

A 2nd to 3rd shift at 8,200 rpm went bad for me once, and I got 1st gear (don't ask, the shifter was busted). The car had a 5" 10,000 rpm monster tach, and the needle disappeared behind the black paint where the lightbulb is (estimating about 12,000 rpm). It was one of the 3rd gen Civic 12 valve motors. The exhaust valves in those cars were huge. The car still ran fine on the track, but when I got back to the pits, the thing would not idle below 1,500 rpm.
When the head finally came off, all the exhaust valves were bent, and other than some small dings in the tops of the pistons from the intake valves, the valves themselves were fine.

Over-revved the motor eh? Good timing I guess, maybe it was fate or a sign time to start on the ls-vtec. Good luck.----
fate just told me yesterday to finish my body kit, i got in a wreck where a mustang clipped my back end and the bumper flew across the intersection.it kinda dented the rear 1/4 panel and the lil metal piece, but other than that it came off pretty clean
looks like im gonna have to finish my body kit now

Sorry to hear that bro. Live in learn. You're luckey your okay. You could have thrown a rod and locked your wheels. A full roll cage can only do so much anyway. Are you sure you didn't just bend some valves? Check head first... How many seconds were you in redline?
pics are up:
you guys tell me dif this motor can be saved

i came, i saw, i blew it the **** up! c'mon guys you all make it seem like i lost a limb. b16's go for 450 bux, hell i think all of us swapped guys ought to have a spare one lying around in case of this. my biggest grip is that i had this mean sounding/looking g5 lude yanked by about 3-4 cars until 3/4 of the way down the strip wherei fucked up. and i STILL managed a 15.7@66.4 mph.
oh and i just read ur sig, i sure hope thats not directed at me.
