GSR timing belt last 107,000 miles+???
Checking out this 94 GSR and the owner has 107,000 miles on the car. He has not replace the timing belt on it and the car has 107,000 original miles. Is it possible for the orginal timing belt to last 100,000 miles PLUS????? It's own by a more mature female driver, mid 30's. Not own by a 18 year old, so the car hasn't been abused as if a 18 year old were to drive it.
What is your take on this guys? Is it possible for the orginal timing belt on a 94GSR to last 100,000+miles?

Holy poo poo you guys...it's not that hard to change and if it breaks you have a major problem. I just fixed a head for a customer who had bent all 16 valves from his TB letting go. It ended up costing him ~$1300 for all the parts labor to remove the head, all new ITR valves, machine shop work, etc...and he was at low RPM's. Just change it, 90k is the MAX you should let it go on a stock motor. Why try to stretch it, you're asking for trouble
I replaced mine at about 100K plus before too. Checked the timing belt and it still looked like it was in decent shape. No large cracks on the belt. Oh yeah make sure you get an OEM timing belt. Wherever you go, make sure they order one straight from the dealership and none of that imatation isht....

Yes, original t-belt surely lasts more than 100,000 miles.
I'm pretty sure Honda recommend service interval is on the conservative side
and there should be some safety margin.
I've heard people with snapped t-belt at around 130,000 but then again
it really depends how hard the car was driven.

Letting a timing belt go that long is a very foolish thing to do. I caught mine in the act, dont be like me, change it when the manual says so!
??? Have you completly missed the post.

I'm pretty sure the previouse owners have not changed the belt and i am at 130k.....of course my engine is a LS and already has problems so i don't care if it does go and takes the engine out with it.
ohh man.. im running at about 104,000 miles right now and havent changed the belt yet. I need to do this asap. but only thing holding me back, that its about $500.00 to change.. man! thats alot of $$$ whats the cheapest someone has gotten it done for??? any good places besides the dealer anyone recommends?

My stepmoms 91 civic had 150,000 on it. The belt broke when she was going up a hill. No valve damage or anything. But no, it is not going to break at 90,001 miles.
hmm i think i'd just change it at the recommended service interval to be on the safe side.. it only costs a few hundred (if you take it in to have it done... ) and not that much if you do it yourself.. but if it happens to snap while your driving.. it would cost way more in most cases.. (over a G)..
