Okay as you guys know i just got my HB a while back. And i have a racing clutch but it's not installed yet. It's a Clutch Master (Stage 5). Just getting ready to tear the CX down the install it. What should i expect with this clutch. Is it much different from stock. And tips on driving a racing clutch. Thanks

 

stock to stage 5? i really hope u got the hp to handle that or your gonna break so much **** like atleast 500hp. if you have never driven a racing clutch and your going directly from stock your gonna kill the car for the 1st 10 mins and untill u get use to it. i went from stock to act 6 puck and damn i killed it like 4 3 times before i got the hang of it, they grip like a ****

the cx has mad power

u better off selling the the clutch and get nos for your cx or some crap

 

I've got an act 6-puck and I would say it is to harsh for the street for my situation. It chatters and squeals when cold and manual clutch slipping is needed for smooth starts. If you don't have a turbo or built engine your probably overclutching your ride. Also my b16 tranny has 100,000 miles on it and i feel that the 6 puck is wearing out my synchros faster.

 

did someone tell u its a good clutch or did u read it somewhere?

theyre right, stage 5 in a 70hp engine? i could see if u had an extra zero

 

yea it does wear it out faster, i got it cuz i was gonna build my d and a turbo and then my tranny went cuz of the 6 puck and one of the pucks broke off and fucked up my flywheel and it was all bad. so i said **** it. now i have a stock clutch

You think i could pull it off though. And not have to many problems out off it? Like as a daily driver. What is the part of it that makes it so bad or differnt from stock clutches?

 

yea u should have no problems cuz u got the power. the difference from stock is the pedal is A LOT stiffer and the engagement is harsh. when its first installed it falls straight to the floor and pops back up really fast, u gotta be strong. i know 2 ppl that are 13 second all motor with a 6 puck and they have no problem

 

stage 5 clutch? dont expect to have it long. they have short lifespans becuase they should be a strip only clutch. A stage 4 would be plenty

 

About how long should i expect it to last?
"engagement is harsh" What exactly doest that mean? Is it kinda just like ready to come back out real quick soon as you push it in. And it's harder than stock. But could i pull it off as a DD i really hope i can cause my stock clutch wont pull it off anymore.

 

honestly I think you'd be better of with a stage 4, stage 4 is so easy to drive and it'll hold, I'd honestly say it's just slightly stiffer than stock pedal feel...same price I beleive, but if you have no choice then I wouldn't worry you'll get the hang of it and it'll prob be like nothing after awhile.

 

I wonder about how many miles are the stage 5 good for?

Is this an unsprung hub? If so, good luck daily driving it. Engagement is going to be very "on/off" not to mention putting a ton of unecessary stress on your drivetrain.

Way to buy parts and then ask questions about them.

 

Your leg is going to be sore in traffic.

 

stage 3 will be more than enough.

Race clutches are for race cars only. Your just wasting your money if its for daily driven. Get a spring disc and a single pressure plate. No reason to go with a double pressure plate because in traffic you would want to throw it away.

Race clutches = race car, weekend race car, anything that isnt daily driven.
Stage 3 and up spring disc clutches = daily driven good for race as well.
Stock replacement to Stage 2 = Good for under 200hp motors.

(Those 3 set ups are the way i see it. Might not be in everyones view points. But if your doing daily driven get a sping disc.)

 

i have the stage 4 sprung clutch masters and i like it. its not hard to drive at all.
