Default Car purchase advice

My friend is selling a 95 2 door coupe for 400 bucks. It has about 150,000 on it. The car starts but wont stay running, he said he recently put in a new timing belt. Would this keep the car from running without foot on the gas or is it somethin else. Also, the headlight bracket is broken and it needs a windshield. Other than that the car is good lookin, needs paint but thats normal for 150k. Is it worth it or should i find somethin else. I planned on doin an H22 swap, what tranny should i use. I know these questions seem retarted but any help would be great. Thanks

Andrew
