What do you use to clean ur engine bay/ underneath your ride.

I heard simple green works good.

simple green and steam cleaner

 

go to a spray wash. cover your air filter and dizzy with plastic bags. spray simple green all over the engine bay, and let it sit for a few mins. pressure wash your bay. repeat if necessary.

 

Simple Green is good **** but it took off the black on my boys valve cover on his EF.

 

those chemicals and water wont effect the belts? thats what keeps me from cleaning my bay. I did once and it seemed like my belts were slipping afterward...

not that i know of. i've done it many many times with no problems. are you thinking alternator, ps, or ac belts? they will sometimes slip a little just because the pulley and belt are soaking wet, when they dry, they won't anymore. If that's the case, usually you can tighten the belts a little and it won't happen anymore. I know it won't affect your timing belt, and that's the important one.

 

Engine gunk is good but you have to wait til the car is totally cool. Make sure you cover all electrical parts including the distributor. And be extra careful when cleaning the valve cover, you don't want water to go in where the spark plugs and wires are.

 

dont spray the intake mani runners. really you shouldnt use any of this **** or spray it with water on a honda, there are to damn many electrical connectors and what not and you can seriously **** **** up. i learned that the hard way, and i cover the dizzy and all that good ****. but we all gotta keep our **** clean or we feel like we are sinning.

 

Whenever I clean my engine bay, I use Gunk Engine Bright. Spray it all over the place (except for electrical places) and then hose it off 10 minutes later. I don't cover my dizzy or alternator, but I always let everything dry off in the sun for at least an hour or two before starting it back up.

i'd suggest you atleast cover ur dizzy. as for your filter, if that thing is wet, your engine will pull the water in :\ it's not enough to get ur engine to hydrolock, but u should atleast do it just in case something did go bag. a plastic bag can be free from a super market. a broken dizzy that needs to be replaced will run like 150?? i dont know if my price is correct, but its around there.

 

used power purple or purple power from auto zone...

decent. make sure to rinse really well, it is like dish soap to get off. then if you dont rinse it as well as you think...well it smelled like somthing important was burning when i ran my car the next time


no problems tho. it passed and my engine bay looks better

I just use regular Gunk stuff and it works okay.

But here's the trick that I also use, but I'm not sure it it's 100% safe so don't blame me of you engine explodes.....lol.

After I use the gunk and everything is dry I use those tire foams you put on your tires to clean it and spray all over my valve cover and hoses. This will shine all those parts just like when you buy it brand new at the dealer.

If you still got the factory black oem valve cover, dam let me tell you how well it will shine in the sunlight if you spray it there.

I've been doing this for years in the B16a Civic but and since last year in my lude. I think I'll do it tomorrow too if it doesn't rain.
