My Q would be, why?

i did this to my ek cause the head unit i had, alpine cda-7893m, was clear on the top of the screen area and when the sun was bright you couldn't read anything on the display, so i took off the cupholder lip and put the head unit down there where the little cubbyhole was, the face would tilt up so seeing was no longer a problem, and with the remote, reaching for it wasn't an issue either,
i did have to do some filing to the hole for it to fit, and the only wire i really had trouble with was the antennae wire
