Default .....7 months on Boosted Hybrid tune....:0

I decided to pull the plugs to check em, clean, and re-gap them, and figured I'd do a compression test while they were out.

The results were as follows:
1 2 3 4
240 238 242 242

This is on a b16a with p30 pistons and gsr head....11.0:1
I use 93 octane, and I'm running 7.5psi on a GT32e...
Get about 22mpg (cuz my 02 is unplugged)

I have hit full boost EVERY day since I got it tuned on september 2nd....Plenty of 3-4th gear pulls.....

I'd say Jeff did a pretty damn good job of tuning it....Thanks Jeff!

sweet, good to see high a compression motor thats still together on stock parts. Im sure Jeff tuned conservative for it to last.

What are typical compression results for a 10:1 motor??

I run the downpipe open...so its a 1.5-2 foot 3" open pipe for an exhaust

Jeff put in 8 series plugs....and it was tuned to 12:1......not sure on base timing or total timing....

I am planning on boosting my B18c this summer and this "Jeff" seems like someone I would like to talk to when I'm finished. Does anyone know where his shop is and how I can contact him? I am located in New York. Thanks

Also I have a question about your e-cutout. Have you had any problems with it? I was planning on getting one but my friend told me that when you let off the throttle, cold air can rush in and mess up the turbo and "mushroom" the exhaust valves.

Is this true? Has anyone experienced this? Because after hearing that, it totally turned me off to purchasing one.

No... they don't do that. They just magically make your car run open downpipe, which is fine.

I heard this actually did happen to someone in my area. The cut out provides a shorter distance for the exhaust to travel and a short distance for the cold air as well. You said that this just doesn't happen? Isn't it concievable that when the hot exhaust stops pouring out that the cold air can rush in, hit the super hot turbine blade and continue onto the exhaust valves?

Does anyone else have an opinion, or fact about this possible porblem?

I've worked with a moped before with no exhaust. All i needed was about 6" of pipe so when the engine is throttled off the cold air won't hit the "valve" to warp it. I've never heard turbo systems to do this. I could be wrong though, but plently of people run Open Downpipe here and I've never heard this happen

BTW to get back to topic....NICE!!! 11:1 damn the man with high compression engines

No, because by the time that cool air MIGHT make it to that super hot turbine blade which is situated in the super hot turbine housing and then through the super hot exhaust manifold that air is also going to be hot. There isn't a chance in hell that would ever happen. We run a ford 2.3T motor in a sand rail here, there's about4 inches of pipe off the turbine outlet to direct it away from hitting the wastegate straight on and that's it, and I can tell you it's never burnt a valve or anything.

But if he heard it then it had to have happened.

Great to see a motor and a good tune live happily together.

not to mention that the turbo is spinning on one direction......and the cool air would have to push against the exhaust gasses and spinning turbine wheel to get to the exhaust valves....ohh yea, and alllllll the way through my equl length manifold too......

Yea, the e-cutout was ****, it fell apart in 3 weeks haha hence the open downpipe....

Quote, originally posted by SHystrdyGSRtdy »

22mpg and because your o2 sensor is unplugged? Ehh...about 20-22.....i saw 222miles on a full tank, and beat the **** out of it (about 7 1st-3rd and 2 or 3 3rd-4th gear pulls)
that was recently driving out to tobay beach....awsome ride lol
