Default Limp Mode???

I was driving down the freeway this afternoon, downshifted for some 3rd gear VTEC, and I couldn't rev past about 5500rpm, it was sorta bouncing as if it was hitting redline.

Only change I've made in the last few days was switch out my AEM CAI for my stock box w/out resinator(only b/c the AEM was out getting the bracket re-welded on). Anyways my VAFC is tuned to the CAI, my only other mods are dc 4-1 JDM header and 60mm catback.

After letting the car rest for about 40 mins, I tried it out again and didn't seem to be in limp mode anymore. I couldn't hear anything out of the ordinary, and car seemed to run smooth. Is this anything I should worry about or anything I should check just to be safe?
Anymore info needed?

Anytime you go into limp mode, you can just turn your car off briefly, then restart. It will be in normal mode again unless you get another CEL code which drops it back into Limp mode.

I had a similar problem with the VTEC Solenoid tripping CEL's which plopped me in limp mode very randomly.

Well my CEL is on all the time b/c of my test pipe.....this is the first time it's happened.

Oh well hopefully it's nothing serious, still gotta check the oil level, it's been a busy day

have you looked to see if you have thrown any more codes besides the O2...

(I'm not sure on this thats why im asking...what can throw the car into limp mode? The only thing I know of is when the map sees boost) What else does it?)

When we boosted my brothers civic it went into limp mode when we were going to get it tuned. Car was running dangerously lean so we assumed that is what caused it to go into limp mode. After the tune never had a problem again.

I would start will checking oil level and pulling codes. I highly doubt you car would be running that lean to throw it into limp mode if it is even possible.
