Doing my swap, have questions about AC bracket and compressor.
Hey:
I am swapping a 95 GSR motor into a 95 CX hatchback.
I was sent an AC bracket and compressor, however, the bracket is kind of beat up and the car's AC hoses don't want to line up with the new compressor.
Can I use the bracket off of the CX? How about the compressor? I would just go and try it, but I need two sets of handsto get the bracket and stuff off of my old motor, and I am not going to have any help until Friday.
Thanks for any help
Steve

get the bracket off a del sol dohc vtec. It will bolt to you block and you stock civic compressor w/ bolt to it.
You will need a new belt too.
You will need a new belt too.
More specifically, get the 94-95 del Sol ac bracket with the P30 in the part number. Don't get the 96-97 del Sol ac bracket with the P54 in the part number. It's for the EK chassis.
This is for the EK.....

96 del Sol AC bracket: 38930-P54-000 $94.82

Sorry Trey Your not quite right on this one. The 94-95 Del Sol VTEC A/C bracket is the one you want, but it does have the P54 part number.
Here's the correct bracket for mounting a 92-95 Civic A/C compressor to a B seriews block:

Hey:
Thanks for the information. Is this something that the wreckers woudl have, or do I have to get one from Honda? Those DOHC Del Sols aren't very common are they?
Thanks

no, you won't find at a wrecker, (extremetly rare). Best bet is http://www.Hparts.com, around $90 from them.

Well I have the P54 on my 96 CX.
Check http://www.jspectuning.com/6gen/
Same part number you have listed. 96 del Sol AC bracket: 38930-P54-000 $94.82 from http://www.HParts.com
Every 92-95 I've swapped I've used the P30 bracket. Again, both will bolt to the B block but if you use the 92-95 D compressor, you need the P30 bracket. If you use the 96-00 D compressor, you need the P54 bracket.

Hey:
Thanks a million for the help. Don't know what I would do without this website. I've got one on the way.
Hopefully, its the P54 because that's what I ordered. If it's the P30, hopefully they will let me swap. Doesn't look like I am going to need AC for awhile, at least.
I hope nothing else goes wrong. I've really got the itch to be 'hybrid-cruising'!

Jeff I know you know your shiet.
But yo udo know that both brackets bolt to the B block and will work in both the 92-95 and the 96-00. The difference is the ac compressor. I see that you used the 96-97 del Sol P54 bracket but you aren't using the ac compressor....

so all this is moot.

DOH!
I just reordered and got the P30 part. Should be here Monday.
I will definitely let you guys know how it turns out.
BTW, Driving these hybrids around is fun, right? I mean, I'm not going through all this, and its going to suck or something?
Thanks again
Steve
PS Trey - that's a cool-*** Civic you have there. How big a hassle is it to mount those Integra seats?

The seats took a little work, I had to swap the front rails to get all four holes to bolt up. The rears (uppers) I had to take the seat covers off the teg frames and put them on the civic frames to get everything to fit correctly.
About the bracket, as long as the one you ordered was from a 94-95 DOHC Vtec del Sol then you will be fine.
THink about it this way, if your compressor was from a 92-95 civic and the bracket was from a 94-95 del Sol, chances are the compressors are the same.
My 96 compressor was the same as the 96-97 del Sol.
Make sense? In both instances, the compressors are the same between the civic and the del Sol per generation. So the bracket for the del Sol will be needed based on the generation, 5gen or 6gen to match the compressor.
Owning a hybrid is alot of fun, if it's done correctly, it can be very dependable!
Good luck,

Hi Trey,
Why are you selling your car? How much are you selling for? You can email me at tlchan@hotmail.com.
Thanks!

Man you made me work digging up these photos:
I *did* have AC before I removed it . . . . back on 2000 When I had the B18C1. Crappy pics but you can see the AC lines and radiator:

In order to run an 92-95 compressor you need the Del Sol VTEC ac bracket from those years, i.e. 94-95. (Which is P54)
In an ek, you need the Newer Del Sol VTEC bracket, so for a 96+ you need the 96-97 Del Sol VTEC bracket. (P30 I guess, dunno). I know the 99 Si works sometime too, not sure what years exactly though.
The one thing I know for sure, if You need the P54 bracket in order to put a 92-95 A/C bracket on a B series block . . .
Sorry Trey, but I'm 110% on this one.
I sold my bracket when I pulled the A/C, it went onto by friends 99 C1/93 Si. Then another frind bought the P54 bracket and kept AC in his B18B1/VX 93 EG, and a third frind bought a B16A3 swap from a 94 Del Sol VTEC, and it *came with* the P54 bracket. His 93 CX compressor bolted right up.
You need the P54 bracket dude.
But don't take my word for it:
Here and Here and Here
Wait that last one is me anyways, heh heh, but it pretty much Sums it up. Read that last link . . . .
And I quote, "the part # is 38930-p54-000, bolts right up to any b-series block. my civic dx compressor bolted up fine. oh ya i used the 94 delsol bracket."

Okay:
The P30 bracket does not work. The civic compressor won't bolt up to it. Thanks for the help anyways, though.
I am going to try to exchange this for the other bracket on Monday and we'll see how that works.
Thanks again

Hey:
I am using the stock Civic compressor.
I really wanted to go this route because I would have had to make custom pipes to run the B18 compressor.
Still have to get a belt, but in Illinois, I have about four months before I'll need AC!
