Default Tranny Noise (((( please look))))

Search turned up nothing so here it goes.
I have an integra LSD in my GSR tranny with new syncros and just put the car out today. Noticed that there is a whining noise coming from the tranny as i drive the car. It gets louder as i accelerate. Is this normal for LSD s? Any thought or suggestions? thanks

no not normal. Perhaps bearings? Or maybe a bad install...

the guy who did the rebuilt is like the honda guru so i dont think it will be the labor part. The tranny shifts great with no grinds or anything. Just the noise for now.

Dont listen to these guys, your tranny should not make ANY whinning noises. Does it do this in every gear and get louder? or just first?

It might be the ring/pinion. That is alot of the time the problem.

It's normal man.
WHen i installed my kaaz lsd in my 240, it made the same noise in break in and when i drive it, because it was a 2 way lsd. If it gets loud, change your fluid and then see what happens.
it is normal though, if you have a clutch lsd, oem lsd, too i presume

THIS happened to me as well, does it sound like ur driving in reverse? <-- that kinda wine?? did u put the lsd in a normal transmission housing? I tried this but would not work, as there was not enough room to put all the spacers in place. so had to go back to my normal diff, there is a slight difference in the housings... if it kgets worse i wouldn't drive it, as something in there is grinding, and shouldnt be.. get it checked out ..

It's coming from the ring gear. Get it open and fix it now and it will be OK if you get an good wear bar in there then you will have to replace the ring and shaft even if it is reinstalled correctly after it is too late. There should be no noise.

There wasnt any noise before the LSD install so im guessing the ring/pinion was in good shape. So this makes me believe that the shims werent installed right. Sucks *** cuz now its one more thing to fix and the car is down again, after 2 years of being in the garage

I also have that noise and I do not have LSD. Can be heard easily in 1st gear and it gets quieter in 2nd then you can't really hear it in the rest.

to clarify...

reverse in any honda trans is loud because the gears are cut straight..

1st gear may have a slight whine to it under decceleration due to the speed combined with the angle of the load placed on the slant-cut gears, which is completely opposite from the load placed on them under acceleration

but at any other time everything should be basically silent

Mine phantom grip doesnt make a whining noise, but it clicks when I turn right in second gear. I know, I know, you think its the axels. Its not. It only clicks in second gear with the clutch out. Any other gear, in nuetral, or in second with the clutch in, it doesnt click. Im still trying to contact Phantom Grip to see if anybody else has had this problem.

If your transmissions are making gear like noises while driving, check your fluid!!!! Make sure they put some back in!! This has happened to me a few times.

How do you check the fluid again? take the plug out and fill it up untill fluid comes out the hole?
