Fast Line Performance Shifter + ES Shifter Bushings = Mixed feelings
So I've been rocking a B&M short shifter for the last 3 years now. I haven't had yet one problem with this shifter, no mis shifts, no grinds. The only 2 complaints I have of this shifter are that it rattles like a ************ but that's only because the resonator makes contact with the counterweight on the shift linkage.
So I've been reading about this super weird and innovative shifter from this company http://www.fastlineperformance.com and I have always been one who likes to support independant companies and try out new parts and ****.
INSTALLED

I couldn't find a review with any decent pictures, I mean't to document this whole install but somehow my battery charger for my camera somehow unplugged itself and was 80 miles away while I did my install so I only had enough energy to snap a few pics. *Sorry*
So the install like any short shifter was pretty strait forward. The instructions included are pretty accurate, my only gripe was the whole torquing the locking nut for the shifter to the linkage at 20 ft lbs... my tq wrench never clicked once indicating it was at 20 lbs and the shifter was impossible to move. So I loosened it up and were good to go.
I also took this time to install energy suspension inserts into my shift linkage.

PROS!!!
- I love the position of the shifter, I just move my right hand slightly over to the right and boom. No more reaching, no more stunner slouching to reach my shifter.
- A little wd40 and my itr shift **** screwed right on without having to rethread it or the shifter.
- the construction is top notch, its pretty heavy too. So you can use it to beat people with if they make fun of how stupid it looks lol. Function>Form.
- Changing gears during spirited driving is direct and firm. There is never a lack of confidence of going into an incorrect gear, the throws feel like they're a slick of the wrist and plus you can drive your car with both hands if you're into that type of ****. I personally cant do that all the time thanks to capul tunnel.
- The bushings they use are pretty neat, I didnt need to grease them and they were very easy to move while inside of the shifter. Unlike the oem with wear on its ring bushings.
CONS *HEEEEERE WE GO*
Due to the size of this thing there were some concerns and im gonna give the undercarridge another look to make sure everything was tightened down and im also gonna try it with the oem bushings but anyway let me express my concerns.
- The shifter is so long that you cannot use the exhaust hangar under the shifter to hold your resonator up. The shifter just wont allow it and it will have to be modified. The resonator will eventually come up and hit the shifter when releasing the gas during driving. But thats all nit picky ****, doesnt really bother me. Its more my resonator getting PUNCTURED by something since its not being held up any longer and also the stress its putting on the rest of the exhaust bolts by sitting loose.
- The shifter is pretty sloppy, but being used to the b&m which is very direct, utilized the stock equipment *none of their rollerskate bearings the competition likes to use* I may just not be used to a stock shifting feel.
They say a lot of research went into this thing, and im just wondering if it was research that actually went into it or coming up with the money to mass produce them for profit.
- When in gear you can feel play in the shifter wiggling it from left to right, almost as much play as you would get having it in neutral and shaking your stick left to right to make sure its not in gear. Some people do this some people dont, but I never have made a mistake of having my car in gear at a stop or starting it. Im affraid I might get caught off guard with this shifter. Again it might be I didnt tighten the lateral ES Bushing enough under the car. -dunno- I will double check but im pretty sure thats due to the design of the shifter.
- Did I forget to mention you cant use the exhaust hangar under the shift linkage anymore and my exhaust is starting to hit a lot more things going through a parking lot than it did before?

- Some people will think it looks stupid because you have a big rig shifter in your car now. Or it might gain your car some "unwanted" attention. But if you put a performance part on your car because of its looks then you have some issues.
Anyway for 150 dollars I think if b&m personally would just put a bend in their shifter then they would have a winner on their hands. C's is out of business so there is no picking up one of those but they still sit rediculously low. I think it's just gonna take some time for me to get used to the way this shifts and then I wont be able to drive with anything else but I definately am going to weld a new exhaust hangar down under the car for the b pipe. I dont really have much more to say than that.
ill go snap a quick vid of me going through the gears.
EDIT:
Here is me going through the motions.

Here is the play the shifter has when its IN gear.

Resonator chilling w/o its Exhaust hangar.

Its not all that bad but imo they should at least make the connecting end on the bottom of the shifter a tad shorter, the oem one isnt even this long.

when you said truck driver status i didnt expect to see a real truck driving shifter

knuckles are short of the dash. and you can change the position of where it sits so you can make it stick just a tad further back, I have it slightly close to the steering wheel.
never seen it, they only had the pro shifter I had and the other one they make in the billet shift plate they manufacture.
Damn, that sits high, but if it works and you like it, that's all that matters.
User Eggman sells an adapter that you can just screw onto your short shifter and take it off when you don't want to use it.

Your mother should've swallowed. There is an asthetic reference of the shifter as well as a technical discussion of the shifter. Please pour yourself a glass of shut the **** up and compliment that with a bowl of dicks.
