Default How much boost can a stock h22 handle?

I asked in a different discussion, but no one seemed to notice, so I'm asking again -- what kind of boost can the stock h22 handle, and what's the weakest link?

Jesus, he cant find the answer - quit telling him to search..

H22s dont do well above 7 pounds with a larger sized turbo.. With smaller turbo - 10 psi is possible..

Its all about the tune. The ringlands crack with a hint of detonation.. 15psi is a FREAK motor and it WILL blow up..

Be safe

hmmm got a link to that thread.......build your engine and you wont have to worry about it and you'll be much happier in the long run.

Yea but he said stock, like it was posted, I wouldnt go more then 7 or 8 lbs if you drive it every day. If you change pistons would could go a little more.

Cant do that either.. Pistons dont mix with FRM sleeves unless you use Mahle's which have a bad track record on fitment..

Its either FULL build or low boost.

yup full build or low boost... my motor was tuned at 9psi on a t3/t04e turbo and lasted 10 months which included some 12-13psi runs as well...

Praise Jesus, I found someone with a little sense!! I'm amazed so many people took the time to write back, telling me how dumb I am, when they knew the answer the whole time....and it would have been easier for the first guy to just answer the question, and move on. and yes -- i have used the 'search' function on many message boards before, and no - I still don't find crap on this in here. I appreciate your answer, Drag_on.

for the rest of you - do a search for 'stock boost' or 'stock turbo' in the prelude group and see what you find for yourself.

Anyways, this thread should be LOCKED. Question answered, it's over.

I did a simple search for 'stock boost' and 13 topics came up that all seemed to answer your question. My guess is you didnt choose the 'archive' radio button.
Try that and you will see plenty of results.

another person with sense! Now that I know how to use the search function properly, I'm sure I'll bug you guys far less -- hell, you might not ever have to post again on this board But seriously, thanks silver.

Next time someone asks this question, we should all just assure him that it will easily handle 12 psi.

Like stated earlier, it's all about the tune.

There is a guy (Firedrake) who I believe has been running 14psi
over a year on stock internals, but you better have an awesome
tuner to achieve that yourself.

I'd stick with 8-9 psi and find a very good tuner if you want your
motor to last.

Good luck.

Damn thats amazing 14 psi? I'd run anywhere from 7-9psi for daily driving on stock internals. Anymore than that build the block.

the key to passing smog in cali is lots and lots of grease.
