Default Short Ram Intake VS. Cold Air Intake (AEM)

Should I save up for the cold air intake, or just go with the short ram? Do I need to move anything around if I get either one? Like for instance... The battery? Or does it just drop right in, without anything getting in the way of it's path

What motor do you have? If it's stock, or any SOHC, it drops right in. Unless you have an F22 in there...

SOHC. Cool I have the d16a6 stock si motor... But like how much more hp with the cold air give me... is it worth $80-$100 more?

Ahhhh, don't bother with an intake. Just get one of those K&N drop-in filters made for your car. They do just as well. How about some ZC pistons, headwork, upgraded valvetrain, Exospeed Race camshaft, custom ZC geared tranny and a Bisi header. Lol...I dunno, kinda rambled off for the hell of it. But yeah, not much gain from intakes. Makes a cool sound though!

it takes alot more than a cai to get horsepower.

I'd go with CAI, and yes it goes right in. CAI provides more horsepower than short ram, however I'd prob get a ebay cheapy.

brah just get short ram cuz cai aluminum tube will could touch yur + battery terminal and shut off yur car while yur driving pretty dangerous so just get the short ram where its not so close to yur battery terminal

make your own cai. just make the tubing go into the bottom part behind your bumper. or do like me and cur a hole in the bumper, and put a tube into the engine bay, so cold air goes into the engine bay but water dust etc stays out. basically i got a short raim and cai in one.

Enough of that. I decided to sell my D Series and get a B series.... Well see what happens though. Depends if it sells quick enough or not. =] making your own is cool, but im going for the cleanist possible look, and im not a pro at fabricating things, even if its just some pipe =] bolt on, snap together, wire splicing I can do =]

If you get the right CAI for your car it should fit right in without touching the battery.

I have the AEM Hybrid Intake, which basically is the CAI for a CRX with B16 swap, but it fits just as well on stock B16s:

pimp **** but to spend 200+ on hybrid intake system is nutz.

3" velocity stack, 3" piping to 2.5" piping with silicone reducer to TB is the only way to go location bottom of bumper or out the headlight. cleaner looking on 88-89 civic/crx bumpers.

Wire Loom that amp kit and route it under the intake.... you spent mad cheddar on a sick intake, dont hide it.

The problem with the AEM hybrid intake is that it's not carb legal.

I used the "stock" CAI in my 89 with B18c (with Skunk2 intake manifold).



It's not as good functionally as the hybrid unit, but does have a CARB sticker. Now keep in mind that it's not technically legal due to the engine swap, but a cop would have to run numbers to know. The car was Ref'd, but with the factory filter box.

scuse the mess but this is how my aem CAI fit my b series, notice the piece of duct tape between bat and intake.. the bat is in the trunk now anyway and the intakes gone

lol ops, yea well thats the beauty of aems cai for the crx si

its a short ram and cold air... what u see in the pic is a 3 inch filter ghetto'd on there, with tape wraping the end of the intake to make it fit snug
