Default Never say Never: S2000 cluster fully fuctional in EF

AS some of you may know Pacman had one in his CRX, but he couldn't get the digital speed to show..

In the past few months a few people from these sites showed interest, and Mark from UK figured it out.

http://board.hondacrx.co.uk/ph...23883

http://forum.pgmfi.org/viewtopic.php?p=33276

http://www.k20a.org/forum/show...pp=10

basically he installed the cluster with the digital speed working and at 90 mph he noticed the digit change to one for a second...

He worked on it in his mad scientist lab

and did it...

He is going to post in car video of it soon.

Props to the honda community. That is one bad *** cluster... better than spending $1000 for the motec one.

Nikos

PS I am sure eg/ek would be as easy as well.

some kind of a multiplier.... I have no clue about electronics.. That is why I listed the threads.. Sorry you have to register in all of them... I am pretty sure you will be able to buy whatever you need. Making on your own... Not sure... I know I could not do it...

but still far more expensive than keeping the stock one or using an aftermarket tach.

You do realise that the Motec ADL "clusters" cost a pretty penny because they are data loggers and not just a dash cluster right.

so in appearance the S2k and the ADL might be similar (if you use the word similar really loosely);
in functionality they're about a world apart.

Im just asking this for i guess future reference but when someone talks to this guy or does this, let me know how hard it is. Im not the best at wiring, in fact i hate it at times, but this would be worth it.

Oh and do you have to have a k-series to do this?

From the main dude that did this, MArk

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
The converter "black box" will read a "standard" Honda VSS signal (so an EG & EK are in this family), so that covers the majority of cars from when Honda introduced VSS - i think its pretty standard across all models other than a few exceptions - im not sure about the latest Civic Type-R or RSX/DC5 for example. Anything thats different could be dealt with if im given the details. It will also take an input from either PGM-Fi's CTS, or the one that used to drive the temp gauge and provide an output to drive the s2k's temp gauge.

I'd also like to add the ability to change how many bars of the temp gauge light up vs engine temperature - the S2000 has 6 bars, the lower one being lit constantly.

I have the S2000 cluster pinout fully mapped, with as many changes between countries as im aware of, it would be up to the installer to hook up the S2k dash to their own car - basically if you can wire up a sound system, you can do this.

I have no idea at the moment when i'll have something ready, but i will keep you posted - its at the top of my priority list at the moment, so its getting all of my spare time ploughed into it.

I think im going to have to put together a FAQ & web page to sum it all up so everyone can look to one place for progress updates.
