Default urgent: atts question

a friend is selling is type s prelude (and i'm thinking of buying it) but atts on that is goosed. is the atts transmission swapable with a non-atts stock vti prelude trans, same gen or 4th gen ? or can it be turned off altogether since it is goosed and driven normally ? any ecu modifications required on swap ?

thanks a bunch

why not? a base model tranny would bolt up all u need is a base intermediate shaft to go with the tranny and i think your goin to need a base ecu and maybe even cv axles as long as its from a 5th gen

You just need a base intermediate shaft & a custom bracket to mount it. SH axles work fine, as does the SH ECU - although you'll have the ATTS light unless you pull the bulb.

no a base gearbox won't bolt on because the type s has a different block and the gearbox bolts are in different places

so what you are saying is that H22A8 can't be swapped with any other H22Ax unless the gearbox is swapped over as well?? i thought that all the H22As were identical (except for internals).

the base block has different mounting holes then the SH / type S block.

You would just need a base transmission from any H series prelude and then fab a bracket for the intermediate shaft.

also any H series intermediate shaft will work. i am now running an H23 tranny and intermediate shaft with 5th gen SH half shafts on a 2000 base block.

in all other aspects it will work. to rid yourself of the ATTS light just pull the ATTS ECU.

if anyone doubts this kiss my ***, because i did it.

all you have to do though if you want is to pull the ATTS ECU and the ATTS Fuse and you will be able to drive it like normal

for the fuse it should be either under the hood in the upper left hand corner, or under the drivers side (in the US at least). the fuse pannels will have it labled and say ATTS.

for a custom bracket i do not have any pics, but you will need to figure a way to attach the three bolts of the intermediate shaft to the left two holes on the type S block. just use your imagination, a plasma cutter and a welder and you should be good to go.

picked up the lude, read the fault codes... got ABS and ATTS (78,79) codes but could not find any references to those in the fault codes list. then reset the system and the fault hasnt come back... done 200 miles testing on different roads and still no fault codes hopefully it wont come back now... tyre pressure on the front was very low, 24psi. inflated it to 32 all around before the reset and everything seems to be working perfectly for now.

got a bit of hesitation problem, which is part cured with new spark plugs... got to investigate that now
