Default B20 swap??

Does anyone have the B20 block with the type r head? or know someone who does.

What kind of power does this put out? advantages / disadvantages?

from stunnbizzle.

Theres tons of info here, but you gotta research it. Also, talk to people who have them, and who also had horror stories with them.

Bud of mine has one with 230 to the wheels. Its worked, yes, but it gives you an idea of what you can do with it. O yea, 10k rpm too.

Its all in what you put in it. If you put **** in, youll get **** out! (quoted yoshi)

b20-vtec with arp rod and head bolts will be reliable. not to sure if it gonna like revving to 8600 like a C5 tho.

but the gobs of torque you get is worth the lower rev limit

PROVE THAT.....you have experience?? then don't talk

have had a b20 reliable for 38,000 miles....

all of which were racing miles, road and drag (400 plus launches)

the tq is the best thing about the b20 vtec....expect about 170-180 hp and 130-140 tq....with itr head and cams

nothing wrong ben, all the cars i mentioned are untuned.

my boys b20 has pistons roads jun head jun cams port matched r intake manifold b16 tranny.

he pulls on both cars off the launch but third gear we both catch him.

his car is crazy fast dont get me wrong. i give that car props. its just the matter that he spent $$$$ on that car and i spent half on my setup.

once the car is tuned ill post #'s and updated info pics too.

my R is a custom kit t3/t4 50 trim arp headstuds is the only mod to my motor.

i guess it was already said if you spend the money and do it right the motor is reliable and fast too.

I cant say it is fair to compare a boosted car and a all motor car. you can spend 5-8 grand on a allmotor setup, and run the same as say a greddy kit on lower boost levels. it's all about what you want and what type of duty the car sees etc. plus personal preference.

and as for b20's going to 10k, i see kaboom in the future, i wouldn't even take it to 8500, don't really need to anyways.

So is this swap, a B20 block with a Type R head, a complicated one? Or is it pretty much straight forward. I'm currently considering getting rid of my turbocharged B18B1 in place of a JDM B18C (& get the basic bolt-ons), and a B20 block sounds like a good idea.

Thanx in advance.
