searched...Gsr engine
my gsr engine has 121,xxx miles on it and ticks really loud when i start it up. When i start it, it idles at about 1500 rpm because it is cold but once it goes down to about 900 rpm, there is no noise. If i give it gas when it's at normal idle, it ticks again till it goes back down to normal idle.
I have already done valve adjustment and took off the heatshields and started the car and the motor still ticked. I am lost. Sounds like it is coming from the back side of the motor. I cant figure it out. Do you think that slick 50 might cure the tick if it is coming from the inside of the motor. Please help me because I am afraid of ruining my motor when i get on it a little.
P.S- its been doin it for about a year now.

i know the injectors are lound on gsr's but its not them..i hear a different noise.
Ls_V_TurboSi: It still happends when the motor has been running for a hour. If i rev it up to about 2-3k, it will tick for a second or two then go back to normal.
Anyone else? Please help because i want to figure this out before i go to the Great Lakes Dragaway.

my buddys lost motions were bad in his b16 but you could tell when it was at an idle. Im sure if it was your lma's then you would hear it ticking at idle, but dont quote me on that.

Do you guys think any engine treatment like slick 50 would solve the ticking? I would replace them if i had enough engine building experience but i am to afraid to mess up.
2 things:
1. Check your oil and make sure you are not low. If it's full, proceed to step #2.
2. Go buy some Seafoam and read the can. Search for info for the inevitable questions you may have.
ok, 3 things.
3. Slick 50 is a waste of money and won't fix your problem which is probably a sticking lifter that step #2 will fix.
edit for clarification
