Default 88-91 OBD0 B16A into a 91 Integra LS OBD0 Information

Hello, I'm in the process of planning a budget setup for a B16 Swap into a 91 Integra LS. I was planning on purchasing the motor off HMO, the complete OBD0 B16A swap. I'm trying to piece all together before I start. Please correct me if I'm wrong but to complete this, all that needs to be done is reuse the B18A Wire harness, run my own wires for VTEC and the 4 Wire O2, and reuse the B18A mounts (all the mounts?). That's whats been pieced together so far, which is no sweat at all. What else is there that needs to be done? Do you reuse the B18A linkage? I'm trying to get this going underway asap. Feed me your knowledge people Thanks!

Ok well it's 240am and I just got back from the bars. But I'ma try and help.

Ok well a lot of poeple just use their stock B18 harness. If I remember correctly, due to the RHD of the Japanese tegs, the harnesses don't match up. In fact, for my B16A SIR II (OBD1) going into my 92 (OBD1) teg, I can def vouch for that. So yah, most poeple just use the stock B18A harness and injectors, etc.

As for mounts, yes, reuse all your B18A mounts. You can, if I recall correctly, use your B16 mounts that come with it, cept for the drivers side one. You will need to use your B18A mount bc the B16 mount is too short (by about and inch, I think).

Yes, you'll need to run your own wires for VTEC. It's not hard either.

As for the O2 sensor, I can't help you on that. My OBD1 B16A SIR II had a 4 wire O2 sensor just like my stock B18A had, so it was a simple plug and play.

And yes reuse the B18A shift linkage.

The nice thing about the B16s is that they were made to go into G2 (in Japan). So because of that, much of it is simple drop in/plug n play, if you will. Not many mods are needed to do it.

Last, please check out this link:
http://www.g2ic.com/tegtips/engine/15.html
Click on engine swap guide. This will tell you exactly what you need to do to swap a 1st gen B16 into your 90-91 teg. Also has more helpful info.

Don't forget http://www.g2ic.com to begin with. VERY good site for all your G2 needs! I've been a member over there a lot longer then here

HTH

All b series mount straight up to you teg. I'm not sure about the B20 series. go to jspecautosports.com they have engines and tells you every motor you can mount up to you teg.

I just finished a pre obd b16a swap in my 90 integra, but the distributor is not the correct one on the engine. you can see where an ear was cut off so it could fit. when i got it running it was not burning fuel properly and the plugs were wrong, and wires, cap, and rotor were all aftermarket junk. i put the correct plugs and wires in (from acura), and it runs a bit better now. would an ls distributor work? not sure whats on there now, but if i got a new cap and rotor would it run properly? what distributor can deliver enough spark to run that engine? or do i just need to get a b16 distributor? i would like to spend as little money as possible due to another more important project.

if u have the money buy a b16 or gsr distributor for better fitment. if not the ls distributor will be fine. The only difference is the ears on the vtec and non vtec distrubtors. they are placed differently thats why the ear was cut because the distributor would not line up correctly. the internals all share the same parts the both work the same. also make sure the distributor does not cause oil leakage. if it does you can aplly some high temp gasket sealant around the rim were the distributor and head meet.

if its an obd0 distributor itll fit. or if u want to de-pin both connection and make it obd0 u can do dat... for the Header. just re use the one on ur b18a header. itll still bolt up w/exaust.

thanks man, alot of people have toild me the same thing. the car is running very rich. the plugs have been fouled out 2 times in 1 day. my buddy is a toyota master tech and has had multiple honda race cars 600hp+, and he told me that i might need a resistor box in the injector harness. how can i figure out if one is needed? hes busy all the time and prolly wont be able to come look at it until next week some time.

the resistor box is good, i narrowed it all down to the ecu.

it is definetly worth it. they are relatively inexpensive swaps, they bolt right in, and it is a good foundation for a high hp car

Why would you ever put an under-powered 1.6L in your integra? Come on now.

And this thread is old as dirt. You last two didn't seem to realize that.
