Faulken Ziex ZE 512???
I'm thinking of getting some for my 99 Lude so I was wondering if anyone got some or heard of these tires.
How the handling and wet traction since I believe they're supposed to be all weather tires.
How about the noise, I'm basically using these tires for daily "NORMAL" driving, not racing or anything. I'd rather have some tires that are not noisy but willing to accept some if the handling is quite good.

I had the Falken Ziez 512 series tires on my old hatch. Great tires, and I got them over Azenis simply because Azenis are terrible in the rain/snow. I had my slips mounted onto a srt of 205/45/16 ... It was a quiet ride, and the treadlife is good....My next tires will be another set of Ziex 512'S or maybe a set of Yokohama Parada Spec 2's
Don't really have any close ups of the tires themselves, but you get the idea

I was looking at getting some of these, too. I've heard they're really good, but I can get a pretty good deal on AVS ES100s. Still can't decide cuz I've heard good and bad for both. Any opinions?

You should really base your decision on your intended use and the weather where you live, but be aware that using summer tires in very cold weather can be extremely dangerous! I'm sure that Chris@Tires.com and others would know much more about this than me, but I can tell you that the rubber compounds used in many summer tires have a "plastic" transition temperature (someone please correct me if that term is wrong) that is somewhere around the freezing point of water. This occurs over a fairly narrow temp range like only 2 or 3 degrees and once the rubber in the tires gets that cold or colder their traction drops DRAMATICALLY! As in ---> on a really cold day I watched a 911 in front of me going pretty slowly suddenly turn sideways and back into a guardrail. It was like I was watching it in slow motion ( spiiiiiiinnnnn {pause} caaarrruuunnch ) and I'm pretty sure I could have driven circles around him in my VW van because I had winter tires on it at the time and he had summer tires. What happens is that once the rubber is below its plastic transition temp, even though the tire still macroscopically bends flat to the road, microscopically it doesn't conform to all the tiny surface irregularities like it normally would but instead it is like one of those flexible cutting boards and just skates along the high spots. Sorry for the long post but I wanted you to be aware that summer tires should NEVER be used in really cold weather.
In regards to the two tires mentioned, I think the ES100 is probably a little higher quality tire and if I lived in SoCal or Fla I would probably get them, and while more expensive than the ZE512's they are still a good bargain. I have the ZE512's on my CRX and I think they are a great tire for the price, but I also got them because I wanted 4 season safety. Just call Chris and tell him your situation. I'm sure he'll hook you up with the right tire and a good deal.

Quality, grip, wear. Are the Hankooks "summer" tires or all-seasons?
Basically, I have all-season tires on my 16s, but am looking at upgrading to a 17 and don't know if I should get all-season tires or some bona fide "summer" tires. The 16s go on for winter because I live in WI.

curious also? overall value/performance. $9 price difference between the two.

i have them. i jsut bought them. i've driven less than 200 miles in them though, so i cant give you a TRUE feel of them. i bought them because i wanted a tire that will last. these are my daily driver tires. when i am done with my car, which i am pretty soon. need injectors and a nice tune and my coilovers are getting to me on monday and i have my shocks sitting in my garage, but that totally OT. If you want a daily driving tire, they are nice quiet tires compared to my other 240 treadwear tires.
i'd go with them if i were you.
