Crazy Custom RMF header and b16 Head with major mods
NOTE: this ISNT my head or header.. just Re posting the head pics that were originally posted in JerryBuilt's thread.. and posting up the custom header to match the head... Pretty crazy fab skills there RMF!!!

r u ******* kidding me?
that is pretty crazy
care to give some reasoning behind the design?

What the ****??
Looking good RMF, but i just have one question....
Since the 'wall' (dont know the technical term here) that divides the exhaust port smoothes out and ends (obviously) before the head casting 'ends', what benefit does setting up those two chambers in the front of the primaries add? Dont get me wrong, the design looks great, but we both know looking great & making power are 2 different things!
Thanks for any info in advance....

do you have any pics of the header that was used to make more power on this head??? you said something about this header making about 10hp less than a different one?? a lot of work into that setup.

The next pic.I figured out the area of 1 valve less the dia. of the stem. Then I raised the port up until it went into the spring pocket.I made 8 tubes
the size that I wanted .I bored the holes and welded the tubes in.The adapter flange is so I could run ITBs.Because under that flange there is 8 separate ROUND holes. The flange is for the transition from 2 holes to 1.And that's a B-16 bolt pattern.
The next pic is showing how much I took off the head .Over .100".The reason for that was .To have a smaller combustion chamber and a bigger quench
area. Also to get the quench area closer to the piston.I didn't want a tall dome piston to block off the valves.
I also put .200 longer guides in because the stems are so small that the valves want to move around and the air passes around the guide better than a stem going up and down.(the guides are real small dia. though).
The head is not made of virgin 356 that's for sure. But I used 5356 with straight helium on DC straight. You just can't let it get to hot or it goes soft.Allum.
loses its heat treat after about 600deg.
OK #s At first with the adapter plate .The IN. flowed 296 with 28" @ .500.But without it 306" " But I think I fixed that. And on the EX. 226" ".The important
thing is how much power it made.OH and yes I made a set of headers with 8- 1 3/8
tubes and 2 baby merge collectors.I put the left side of the ports in one collector and the right side in another. Its the most wild set of headers you have ever seen.
One problem they lost 10hp over a drag style with a different flange. But man they sure look good hanging on the wall.</TD></TR></TABLE>

It started off .I was just going to straighten out the exhaust ports. And raise the floor. But I couldn't flow each valve separate. So I brought the divider out to the end
of the port.
Then I thought all the 500cc single motorcycles have split primaries. And they make a bunch of power for their size. Then I asked everybody that I thought might have a clue.About running that configuration.
And nobody has seen or heard of anyone trying that.So I tried it.The worse thing that could happen would be that it wouldn't make power. And that's exactly what happened
I put a drag style header on and it made 10 more HP and 10 more ft.lbs.
of tq.But the head made a bunch more power than a (big name ported)GSR head.
With ITBs.It made almost 27 more hp.And boy is it responsive
If I confused anyone ,only the HEADER didn't work .But the HEAD did work ,GOOD

really apprecite it, i had been thinking about this for MONTHS ever since i found this
beautiful isint it
RMF, have you been able to try moving the collectors closer to the exit as those are on that engine?

very nice!!! interesting ideas for the head work. that header looks crazy!! would it have worked better with bigger primaries?

I have a formula one motor here at tuners choice that has individual runners for each valve, so it does obviously work, as they wouldn't have ran the motor if it didnt. I don't have a picture of that particular one but i'll try to grab one sometime this week.

One of the motors we have, i'll grab the other pic sometime this week.
